@wassermelone and @joega1111, the funding stuff is a total mystery. They offered me a two-year fellowship with a $23,000 stipend, and then for the next two years teaching duties with a stipend of $17,000 and then a dissertation-writing fellowship. I don't really understand it, nor am I completely sure of what a "good" offer is.
@joega1111, I technically applied for Victorian literature and my work thus far has been on Henry James, but I think I will probably edge up to fin-de-siecle or early modernist literature eventually. What about you? Berkeley was one of my top-choices fit-wise, but I am from the East Coast/NYC, so I am not so enthusiastic about moving all the way across the country. I still have the rest of my schools to hear back from (although I've assumed implicit rejection from NYU, UChicago and UCLA) and so we'll see what happens, but I am definitely taking Berkeley seriously. I believe I am also visiting in March, so I guess I'll see you there!
