  1. So sorry, this is a too late response. Did you apply? I applied late-ish too, on the 6th and just made sure my recommenders would be willing to overnight letters for me. I sent them all giftcards too as a thank you.
  2. Firefox allows your to copy and paste. Safari doesn't for some reason. I had the same issue.
  3. Hi everyone! Thought I would finally chime in This will be my 3rd round. I seem to be getting luckier each round, (1st round-Rejections all around, 2nd-interviews with one admit) so I hope third times the charm... Finishing up my last two applications and then I will be attempting to ignore the fact that I ever applied... (I drove myself crazy last year) Lots of luck everyone!
  4. Unless you have under 15 works ready and no disposable income...I would apply. You may surprise yourself, as I've found through the process last year when I applied regardless of my own thoughts on my "complete" body of work... that I ended up with interviews. It shocked me as like you, I have a business background and literally NO art credits outside of a few pursued after undergrad. The interviews last year gave me so much insight. For example I interviewed with a top 10 program and found out that I HATED the fact that they were so anti-painting in general and much more into pushing conceptual sculpture pieces. This is just my personal opinion and could totally be seen as bad advice. lol but I always tend to think eh, why not! Life is short, goooo for it.
  5. I have a friend in the painting program and she said absolutely nothing has been finalized and everyone will hear word in the next two weeks as well.
  6. Trying to keep the faith how do you keep the faith alive ? Sigh. Fantastic that everyone is starting to hear back! Still waiting for more news....UCLA, UO, come on you know you want me
  7. I think one could argue that at a top program you are going to have direct contacts and the "right" contacts where as in a less known program you may have to work to get those same benefits or contacts. Unfortunately like any industry it is about who you know. Now where is the best place to be to get to the people you'd like to know….. that is for you to figure out. Cheers
  8. Both of mine were short as well if that is helpful to anyone. Ten minutes and fifteen minutes. Seems pretty typical.
  9. @ Zeecchi: That would be more useful for the MFA freakout post. @Livingsoda My recent interview was extremely intimate in close quarters but I assume it depends on the school. It was intense but more conversational than anything with a few pointed/direct questions. Be prepared for them to talk in metaphorical circles and then throw a question at you. They are testing you to see how you react. I'd be happy to answer any additional questions you have but again I think it is all subjective to the program. Good luck
  10. Cheers Michael! I def agree!!
  11. I knooooow right!?! Checking this forum is seriously my new addiction....!!
  12. Kazoo, you are lovely!!! Cheers!
  13. I was offered to either Skype or do an in person interview. I am choosing to go ahead and fly in. I hope that my effort will be perhaps the slightest push should it come down to me and another candidate. +I'd like a better feel for the program, studios ect. should I have to make a tough decision between top choices. They are hosting lunch, dinner and linking us in with students who have a couch to spare type deal….Hope that's a bit helpful.
  14. @ kazoo and berto! Noooooooo. lol! Why do I keep hearing this scenario! A friend of mine had the same thing happen to her. There was one Grad student who was just a total twat and would just not stop giving her the worst of times-rude just to be rude. Trying to compile interview tips and prepare. I might loose it after spending money to fly all the way to my interview have a similar scenarios. Sigh, bring it!
  15. I've found a few helpful interview threads on here but would fancy any other tidbits you all could offer! Any advice from those who have been through the ringer or know of candidates who have? Questions they were asked, criticism or praise they received? How are you preparing? Random tips! Any help is help as I think we are all preparing and prepping Cheers!
  16. And the waiting game begins!!!
  17. Yeaa, I replied to one of the questions about columbia college and a representative of the school replied underneath. Sooo I'm going to take my mentors advice for sure. Glad its not just me. Thanks for your two cents. When it is all so subjective, I'm fine with being a bit paranoid in wanting to stay anonymous
  18. Am wondering if there are any negatives to listing admission results ect. and if schools are able to identify who it is that is giving out "information" ....after speaking with a mentor who told me to be very careful of the information you put out in forums as schools do read them and opinions can be formed before going into interviews/judging, ect. After speaking with him it made me a bit paranoid about staying as anonymous as possible. Thoughts? On a different note I'm pretty freakin' excited!! I received a call from one of my TOP choice universities for an in person interview. Will list the school once I receive a solid offer but really feeling fantastic!!!!! Hope others are starting to receive good news!
  19. Two completely different perspectives! I'm speaking FINANCIALLY. You're looking at success meaning as growth conceptually ect. in your work (so sure where you live can be a factor)...but to me success means being able to pay my bills doing what I love I guess I've been one of the "lucky" ones in that sense. My surroundings have consistently been irrelevant to my art and my income. Interesting though. This actually points out why I'm pursuing Grad school. I love discussion and different perspectives. My two cents from experience.

My two cents from experience. @Paintcutter Fantastic!! I am such a blog freak. I have about 8 blogs I obsessively read from artists/cooks
  21. Noticed you're going through listing schools for opinions. I'd contact the faculty directly and even students directly if you get refereed to some for better insight. I've contacted faculty through all of my research and most are fairly blunt, one even forwarded my email to a professor at a different university to view my work ect. You'd be surprised at some of the wonderful contacts you can make. My point being take the internet with a grain of salt. For every GREAT review for anything there are about a 100 negatives following it… even on this forum. Do your research outside of random peoples opinions I.E. look at the professors+their bios. ect. and make contact. Hope this helps and best of luck!
