  1. Waitlisted at CCAD by mail. They say they will respond by mid April. Not sure I am really into the idea of it anyways if I actually get accepted. I'm thinking round two!
  2. Haha, welcome. Ren and Stimpy makes everything better. The are excellent roll models too.
  3. Yeah, you never know about the mysterious ways. Maybe something bad. Maybe something good. I guess we'll never know.
  4. Well sounds like a no go for RISD for me. I seriously doubt they would admit me without and interview. I'll what for my letter though. Also Pratt says no by mail...
  5. Denied - Penn Design Saw it coming when they announced the online notification Monday and I didn't have and interview.
  6. Wow I must have done my research wrong... That is incredible. That is like biology stipend for research and PHD programs. Incredible. Some sort of magic is behind that mayhem.
  7. I don't see much about Pratt in this freak out. Anyone hear any news from them?
  8. Allegheny College gave me a BA because they didn't offer a BFA. My study was primarily in art and technology along the lines of photography. I have done some thinking about this as well and I feel at a disadvantage just for missing the letter F. I took maybe 3 "studio" courses while at Allegheny. Not sure what all the other tech classes are considered but as far as "dirty" classes go it was only a couple. I am sure that applying for painting must be a leap from some school's perspective but to me photography and painting reach the same compositional ends. My concern is how schools view my technical skills with no studio course grades to back them up. I can shoot it, draw it, paint it... I just don't have to proof on my transcripts. Schools make just as big an investment in choosing students as the applicants invest in choosing a school. I'm sure there is a whole spectrum of schools that range from picky to casual with respect to transcript accomplishments / history. I also get the sense that some schools want painters focused only on painting and some want painters who try everything else too. Who knows... There are a million variables and even more speculations.
  9. You know who knows the system? This Guy --------------> Noceh4 Impressive collection of interviews. Congratulations.
  10. This is the pattern day in and day out. More time in the studio. March is still young. Congratulations to all with good news so far.
  11. So I had a dream last night that I check my mail and received my ARTnews for this month along with mail from schools I haven't ever talked to. This morning I checked the mail and exactly that happened. ARTnews and mail from schools I have never contacted.
  12. Yeah this is my thoughts on my BFA Prior Degree Student offer. For me it is an argument about whether I can advance on my own in a year's time versus with the community at SAIC in a semester or so. Merit scholarship will be greatly influential on this decision. My other conflict will be if I only get into CCAD. It will be their third year having an MFA program. I'm not to keen on the idea of staying in Columbus so it will be a matter of BFA at SAIC versus MFA at young program in a city I have been trying to escape. There is till time to ponder and a few school to hear from yet but I will definitely be notifying SAIC to process me into their BFA system so I have the option.
  13. In the slideroom for Pratt then have a deadline for March 1st. Maybe they are sending letters or emails sometime today. It's still a mystery to me.
  14. I am happy to hear painters haven't heard anything yet. I got an email on Feb. 3rd about FAFSA deadlines and that is all I have heard from them. Online my applications status reads, In Review. Only time will tell, very slow time...
  15. Yeah this would be a last resort assuming the rest of my applications are rejected. I already have a degree so I can only assume they are trying to polish my work or that they think my education at Allegheny College wasn't oriented towards painting or studio classes enough. My focus in school was always photography and technology. It has only been the last three years out of school that I have dedicated myself to painting. I view them as similar processes with respect to compositional destination and whatnot but I am not sure what some school's perspective on that is. I'll know more when I call them. Thanks for the information. I have felt similar vibes from them as well.
  16. Finally got some mail. SAIC did not approved me for admission to the MFA Painting and Drawing Program, but offered me admission into their BFA program as a Prior Degree Student. Not sure what this means with regard to how many years they are talking about. It sounds a lot like a tune up year for my portfolio. They act like I will be free to explore the classes necessary for polishing my existing work for graduate admission. I'll be giving them a call the see what this is all about. Merit scholarships are available for consideration as well if I tell them I am interested by March 15th. This is exciting.
  17. This board is picking up speed... Congrats People.
  18. There were a couple on Friday and Saturday. I haven't heard if that was just one wave or all of them. No word on any rejections yet either. I am still hoping my mail man has something for me.
  19. Congrats people! Sounds like the train is rollin'. Wish I could get a ticket to ride.
