  1. Rejection from U Washington email received yesterday.
  2. Rejection letteres received for painting from U Iowa & U Oregon.
  3. Just got the rejection letter yesterday from Oregon!!! Nothing from Washington, but assuming the worst at this point.
  4. Rejection email received from Boulder today.
  5. Rejected from IUB - letter received yesterday.
  6. Nothing. Either this week or in 2 weeks is what I was told by the grad assistant. Next week is spring break, so it all hinged on whether they made decisions this week. I'm assuming, as it's Friday, that it'll be 2 weeks before we hear anything....
  7. Also, just called IUB and painting applicants should be notified this week or the week of the 18th of March. Next week is their spring break, so it all depends if the faculty make decisions before or after!
  8. Got my first news today - called Iowa after being locked out of my account and I was not accepted as of February 21st (thanks for telling me...). Thinking there isn't good news for me again this year, but still hoping for the best!
  9. She really is the best - I spent a lot of time on the phone with her last year Good luck to you, Emoree, I hope you get in!!!
  10. I feel ya...I have heard absolutely nothing from any of my schools! PATIENCE IS FAILING!
  11. Hi cat, when did you get the word from Boulder? And did you apply for their painting program? Congratulations by the way & great perspective
  12. Idiotek, Looks like you have a great shot and a bright future ahead! I got a rejection from UO last year in March. Just hold tight and best of luck!
  13. This forum is wonderful and terrible at the same time. I remember being a wreck all spring last year waiting for word...and being on this forum just got me more and more amped up. I had a duh moment yesterday (when I was nearing panic status) remembering that it took until APRIL to hear from most schools. APRIL. It's currently February. We have a long wait ahead of us. Here's to waiting and keeping perspective!! Best of luck to us all!
  14. Well that's obnoxious. I have assumed rejection from them, but just can't wait to get that form letter... :/ Hang in there!
  15. Mies, When did you get a rejection letter from UCSB? Did you apply for painting?
  16. Congratulations - that's amazing! UW Madison has great facilities. I've spent quite a bit of time in Madison if you have any q's about the city, pm me!
  17. Heather - I LOVE your work. Especially The Conspiracy Within. You have a great variety of detail and mark making in each piece. Good luck!
  18. This may be too late of a response as app materials are due in 10 days... but I applied to Iowa too for painting and I visited campus this fall, so I think I have a pretty good handle on what they're looking for. They have very strong painting & printmaking programs, and because of this, they're incredibly interested in a multi-disciplinary approach to the MFA. They truly want their students to have 1 main medium and 1-2 other medias that they grow in over the 3 year program. So, what I did, and what I suggest for you, is to submit your 8 strongest paintings and then 2 other works that don't have to be strong, but that show interest in another area. Best of luck! It's a great school.
  19. 2nd time around - 5 apps IN: University of California - Santa Barbara University of Oregon University of Washington University of Indiana - Bloomington University of Colorado - Boulder UO & UIB are the only ones I'm repeating from last year (so far). Here's hoping that a brand new portfolio and more thoughtful statement writing work this year! University of Iowa & SUNY to go and then I'm done for applying. Unless I decide on trying for Cranbrook -- any feedback on that one? Fencing.... stephguidera.blogspot.com <--most recent work images Best of luck to everyone! Let's not go crazy now, ok??
  20. Thanks Emoree for the feedback! I did just visit IUB 2 weeks ago and sat in on a grad painting crit. It was such a valuable experience to hear the professors talk about the work and to see the work of 1st year painting MFAs. Since I was rejected from this program last year, I guess it was interesting to see who made the cut and how they talk about/present their work in a critique situation. Are you applying to Iowa? Their facilities are great, maybe better than IUB. Thank you for the feedback on my work! I think with the older paintings I did use straight titanium a lot. I'm working more with neutral blacks these days (not too much brand new work on the site) but the highlights do end up being chalky. Thank you
  21. 2nd year applying! I'm a representational oil painter. Last year I applied to 5 programs with smaller scale acrylic paintings and was rejected from all. This year - biting the cash fee bullet and applying to 10. Also creating an entirely new portfolio - which is 1/2 done! #stressed So far, my list is: University of Iowa Indiana University - HOPE UC Santa Barbara UC Davis UW Seattle UO Eugene UT Austin SUNY UM Amherst UM Ann Arbor And thinking about University of Edinburgh (applied last year, got an interview, then rejection) AND Glasgow School of Art. Obsessed with Scotland? Guilty. www.stephguidera.com **feel free to give feedback**
  22. ten of swords - I recognize you from last year's forums! I'm looking at Canadian schools too. They are much less expensive. Emily Carr in Vancouver, I've been to, it's really great & in a cute area of town. Very trendy. NSCAD also looks awesome but their acceptance rate is really low. However, trying might be worth it just to live in Nova Scotia I'm thinking of applying to York - thanks isis for the facility comment. This American loves Canada
  23. Josholas -- We're looking at a lot of the same schools! I had no acceptances last year and am really re-thinking this whole process. UOregon and UT at Austin are two of my top choices. Good luck to all of us!!!!
  24. Rejection for University of Oregon received today (snail mail). Pretty sure I'm out for this year. #depressed
