  1. Replace Kentucky with Scotland, and that's my dream life.
  2. Mick, I got rejected from my 'safety school' as well. That was the first rejection I received...and then the second one came. No acceptances, and things aren't looking hopeful. It is a bit depressing to read about peoples' acceptances, but at the same time it's comforting to know we're not alone - and that in a lot of cases, there's no way to know who is going to get in where...it's all so subjective. That being said, hopefully it's lit a fire beneath you as it has me and our porfolios will only get stronger for next year. Best of luck! Just keep making stuff - that's all we can do!
  3. I feel you on the UO wait. And think, we may have this whole month to go based on what I've read previously. Have you visited UW Madison? They have a great department and wonderful facilities and it's a pretty cheap city to live in - close to Chicago and not to far from Minneapolis/St Paul if you're craving a city
  4. I just called IU Bloomington and the assistant said today or tomorrow they'll be sending out emails!!!! Almost wishing I wouldn't have called - more anxious than ever.
  5. My UO status hasn't changed either...still waiting & crossing my fingers!
  6. It sounds like you're leaning toward Ohio State! And I'd say that's a good decision. If you want teaching experience, definitely go somewhere that will give that to you. Also, going further into debt will not help you at all...I'd say, follow the money. They want you Good luck!
  7. Just to be clear, I was simply wondering why people are secretive on the site - not implying anything further. No hounding!
  8. Thanks Noceh4 for your perspective. As I am one of those freaking out and constantly checking the forum, I understand the stress and competition. I, however, would find it really helpful to see other painters work. For example, if someone on this forum got into a school that I did not, it would be helpful for me to see their portfolio - as a self-critique. It's no big deal, really, I was just curious as to why people are very secretive. And, as I've had nothing but rejections I guess I have nothing to lose at this point...
  9. Random question, why are people so secretive on this forum? Is there some creep out there that steals information or art? Just wondering
  10. Me too on the universal rejection. I'm not fortunate enough to have family land, but I rent a studio. Already planning next year's portfolio...
  11. Congratulations, Chcole!! Glad to see you got in (I got rejected from Iowa too!)!!
  12. Congratulations, Tenbu!!! What a great program to get into!
  13. Painting MFA standard rejection letter from University of Iowa today...bleh.
  14. UO is my first choice for painting too. I haven't heard anything, and I've read from previous posts on this forum that it's late March when decisions go out :/ I applied to 5 schools, got 1 rejection letter and one interview, and nothing from the other 3. I don't know if it's good or bad, just frustrating waiting, for sure. Hang in there, we're all in the same boat!
  15. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I haven't heard anything from Indiana...hopefully I'll hear soon - my hopes are low based on their high ranking, but fingers crossed anyway. Now I'm super nervous that I know that people are getting mail. I'm for painting though, not sure how the departments differ.
  16. ebihal, I think they interview and offer positions before sending out rejections in case they have a certain number of spots and those accepted/interviewed end up not choosing to go there. So, it's actually a good thing (or so I'm telling myself?). I've had one interview and one rejection and no word from the rest....just wish I knew when I'd hear something back!!!
  17. I applied to UO - it's my first choice and I'm getting quite anxious waiting for word! I did read on another forum that it's one of the last places to make decisions...late March...yikes! Good luck to all of you!
  18. SO GREAT FOR YOU! Knock 'em dead! UO is my first choice, I'm hoping to hear something for painting soon! GOOD LUCK!
  19. TheZane, I'd be a little wary of this. My visit to SAIC showed me that they are more about marketing opportunites and making cash than developing you as an artist. This program is similar to Post Bacc, but the credits may be hard to transfer, and make sure that they offer you scholarship opportunites for it. I would hold out for an MFA program if that's what you're looking for. That being said, SAIC does have some amazing facilities and not a lot of structure, so you could potentially have some great opportunities! Good luck with whatever you choose!!!
  20. Heya, I applied for my MFA in painting - first time on this site (freaking out) wondering if anyone has heard from: Oregon (Eugene) Indiana (Bloomington) Iowa (Iowa City) Nebraska (Lincoln) Edinburgh - interviewed, but no decision letter yet.
