How did I miss out on the Star Trek talk. Four days ago I hit the mark of watching every single episode from every series, and there is no more Trek left for me. I am very sad, and have been looking for Farscape PKW, First Wave, and The Outer Limits to make myself feel better, to no avail. Scott Bakula is the worst captain ever. I agree that DS9 is the best, with NG and Voyager dancing around behind them. I need more sci-fi.

I've lived in Charlotte most of my life. I did my undergrad in Wilmington. So middle and east of the state. I'm trying to go visit before the fall--hopefully in the next few months.

Howdy Caroline, I’m heading to KU for my PhD in lit. I’ve got a GTA so I’ve got to be down there by August 5th or something… KU and UCR were both my top-choice schools so I think the program is awesome. It’s ranked high for funding, but middling overall. I’m currently looking for a cheap foreclosure in Lawrence. It’s not going well. I’m probably going to have to rent for the first year. I need a backyard for my dog. Are you planning to go?

KU was my number one (realistically,) UCR is the only one on my list that I would consider over KU, and I don't honestly think that I will be accepted there. So I'm going to take it. I'm pretty much in love with their program and the Center for the Study of Science Fiction.

Thanks! The rejections were almost immediate. It seemed like they denied everyone. I just wish I hadn’t waited till 2AM on Saturday to check my email. I may not be able to sleep until I accept the offer.

The director of graduate admissions to KU just sent me an email saying that the denial they sent me was premature, they’ve actually decided to accept me with a 5 year TA. WTF!?!?! Can they do this? I’d give them the middle finger if I wasn’t so damn happy.

Kudos on all the acceptances. Still waiting on that UCR rejection timshel... Spectacular job on getting in with such great funding! This process makes me want to die. ASU is my good feeling, and they don't pick up the phone for anything short of a fifty dollar bribe.

What school tells you why you weren't accepted in the letter? I think it should ALWAYS be in the letter. I didn't pay you sixty bucs for a question mark, do some more work beyond throwing my file in the trash eh?
