Went to ratemyprofessor and found the easiest professors. Shakespeare it is! I don't want to break in my first semester with a coaster ride. Slow and steady wins the race. And I don't suggest driving from NC to KS. I'm still tired a week later.

You can usually find exact copies of the origional text online at no charge. Either cambridge or oxford has the origional in archive I'm sure.

I think UCR has a great deal of "rise of the novel" PhDs and classes.

I want to publish, and I think a regular university is the best avenue for that.

I pretty much gave up on any hope of a response a few weeks ago. Hopefully they've gotten everthing from all of us, but if they didn't it's not because the materials weren't sent.

Student Association of Graduates in English I think. Every grad program has a student association with a student hierarchy. You can probably get in touch with a fellow grad student, and ask them questions about moving and the campus. Plus it's really fun to get involved with these groups--you meet people that share your interests early on.

I'm glad everybody else has been worried about the status of their application. I've been trying to get a confirmation of materials received for months.

I'm from NC. It's righ outside Kansas City, so I think I'll be okay. Lived in small college town--lived in small city. I'm kind of looking forward to a change of pace, but I'll miss the South no doubt. I'll see you there. Have you joined SAGE yet?

Poems what...? Yes I ran into a similar problem with Ecritis and The Formation of the I blah blah. I was almost positive that there is a time when you have to cite the translator over the actual author, like when mutiple translations conflict and the text is well known. HM....
