  1. I don't know if it helps, but I was accepted to Rutgers last week and I did notice today that my status changed on the application status site (it hadn't last week).
  2. I already posted upthread, but I was accepted by Rutgers today. I'm an Americanist and I was emailed by Vice-Chair of Graduate Studies, not a POI. I have no idea if they are done sending out acceptances yet though. If you have any other questions I can try to answer in a PM. Good luck to everyone!
  3. Thanks!! I'm an Americanist. I don't think it was a mass email just by the specific information about my award, but I could be wrong. If you have any other questions feel free to send me a message.
  4. Hi I'm one of the Rutgers admits. Very excited. I got an email from the Vice-Chair of Grad Admissions, not a POI.
  5. Delurking to say congrats to everyone who's been accepted somewhere and that hopefully those of us still waiting on good news will hear soon. It's good to see how supportive people are on this board. For all the stories about how cutthroat academia can be, at least we are all starting out on the right foot. I haven't heard back from any of my schools yet, but their result histories suggest that they will be notifying next week or the week after. I honestly don't know what to expect at this stage, but I think I'm in a good place about it all and much of that is due to the people here.
  6. Yes this thread did die. Are there really no other AfAm applicants around? I've heard nothing from Yale, and I have no idea what that means. I'm also not sure how it works with the "second departments." Do they both evaluate your application equally? That was never really clear to me. I looked at the history from last year and it seems that Yale took a small class and notified pretty late last year, so maybe that's why no one has heard anything.
  7. I feel like I'm approaching my second freak out this week. I know I'm getting ominously close to the time when I start hearing back from programs and all I can do is brace myself. Work distracted me for a while but now I'm back again. I'm interested in memory, race-based mass violence, and historical accountability in America. Specifically focusing on the heavy periods of violence in Reconstruction, post-WWI and Civil rights eras. I felt history would be the best fit for this, but it could also fall into African American Studies or American Studies.
  8. HI fanon_fanatic. I also applied to Yale for AfAm/History. I also applied to NYU for American Studies and the rest (Columbia, Rutgers, Princeton, Upenn) for history. I'm de-lurking to say I'm happy there are others around. I'm doing ok with the wait, trying not to go insane. I know Yale's program doesn't take many students so I think it's a long shot for me, but I guess we'll see.
