Regarding NU, I spoke with their secretary on Friday. She said that decisions will not likely be posted online for another week or so. Since she was warm and polite, I thought it would not hurt to ask if the committee had already made their decisions. She laughed heartily in response, and said that they "have a lot of things going on." I am not quite sure what to take from that, other than it seems that we might have to wait on decisions from them for a while longer - and that they have an awesome staff.

I am thankful for that. I had nothing after Pitt and UCSD.

I made a pretty glaring mistake in my SOP for one doctoral program, but they have admitted me anyway. So, I think that a type itself - no matter how glaring - does not necessarily lead to rejection. As with most things, different schools, and different admission committes, probably had different standards. I would not worry much about it though.

That seems the best explanation. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Hopefully, we both receive pleasant news next week.

I did not think it was possible either until it happened to me, so I understand your skepticism. Maybe it is a hoax - though I cannot imagine what anyone would gain from posting a fake result.

I actually received my first acceptance before the official deadline, so I suppose that this is possible. Maybe they submitted their application very early, and someone at the school had a particular interest in them?

Now there is another waitlist for Pittsburgh. Now I am really confused. I do not know why the department would tell me that admissions decisions would be delivered weeks from now. Perhaps they wanted to avoid telling me that I had been denied, but I did not actually give my name.

I would agree with that. That said, I called Pittsburgh. According to the school, admissions decisions will not be mailed for a couple of weeks. This clearly contradicts the posted acceptance on the results page, but I thought that I would pass along the info anyway. Maybe they are admitting students in waves?

Those who have applied to Indiana might be interested to know that the committee meeting is not yet scheduled, and that the decisions themselves seem unlikely to be made anytime soon. My comment does not exactly fit with the discussion at the moment, but I thought that this info might be useful to some.
