  1. ....anyone heard a peep? Contacted admissions? I know it doesn't look good but I am sick of waiting at this point. Just get it over with and reject me already!
  2. Agree that they probably gave out all the acceptances, esp given the quote from the results page saying only 8 accepted. I figure right now they are finalizing the wait list, which is why I didn't get a straight answer. Although if that is the case, I don't know why he couldn't just say so.
  3. I called the program this morning. They said they are "still deciding" but that they should be done very soon. Tried to ask if they had given out some acceptances and were planning to do more, and guy evaded the question, saying something along the lines of "we are still in the middle of all that, can't give you any other info..." Asked about timeline for the wait list, similarly evasive answer, saying we will find out soon. Then he said he recognized my name. So if anyone else wants to call and try to get some more information, do so and post here. I also saw the acceptance posted on the Results page and have been wondering, but he wouldn't give me a straight answer as to whether they had accepted anyone or if they would accept more. Seems to indicate a different response than the person who was told they were on the wait list and only 8 people had been accepted.... Who knows what to believe anymore!?!?!
  4. I am getting in touch with professors I had a relationship with about this (graduated a year ago), and am also beginning the yes, truly painstaking process of combing through websites. Was just wondering if other seasoned gradecafers could point me to forums about this topic. Thank you both!
  5. I'd like to use this site to find out more about what programs and schools to apply to... where do I find this? The "application" section seems to be mostly about once you already know WHERE you want to apply, but just figuring out which programs might be right for me has become a hugely daunting task and is where I am now stuck. I want to learn more about programs, the differences between types of programs, etc. I am interested in a PhD in Sociology but really want to know how people figure out which programs are right for them. Like, given my interests in international studies and political economy, maybe I should be looking at anthropology programs too? Or maybe some of both? Should I just post this as a new thread elsewhere on the site? Can anyone tell me if there is some subsection I've missed that talks about choosing schools to apply to? Thank you!
