  1. It's obviously not the only thing they look at, but in a situation where, say, two candidates may be very similar, it's something that does. I was wait listed there last year, and when a friend of mine in the program asked a professor why I didn't get in, he essentially said that there were others who had applied previously - sort of an extended wait list type of thing is more what I mean? Like "ah, yes, this person again - I remember this work from last year and am glad to see it again/how it's evolved/etc."
  2. Just wondering for personal reasons. I know, though, that they're into candidate who have applied at least once before, as it shows commitment to the program. Good luck!
  3. Yeah it's pretty basic. They ask about your work - the themes they picked up, specific pieces they might want to know more about, what you're working on now - & why you want to go to the program you're applying to.
  4. I just came across this Claude Cahun image and feel like it's a pretty solid metaphor for the graduate admissions process.
  5. Have you emailed the school about it? Some sort of "Blah blah This is what I heard about April 15 - I have a few offers from other schools and want time to consider them, etc etc" I mean if a school accepts you and gives you fundz, they want you, and showing them that they have competition can help you financially. Also showing them that you know what's up can't hurt. But I'm pretty sure that, technically and legally, you've got till April 15.
  6. Depends on the program. Some interview all candidates they're seriously considering, but I was wait listed last year at one of my top choices sans interview...which totally doesn't help cause then you hear nothing and are in mega-limbo.
  7. For the 5 other UCR applicants out there, you can check out your acceptance/rejection letter if you login to your application. I'm guessing they already called the winners, and if it's still processing you've been wait listed.
  8. Steinhardt interviews before accepting. I'm pretty sure those notifications come a little later. Also, NYU has a number of MFA programs, so maybe some info was mixed up.
  9. Applying to the schools listed below. This is my 3rd round - 1st time got an interview w CalArts but def wasn't ready, 2nd time was wait listed at my top 2 choices and was in the top student picks to no avail, and now I'm hoping the 3rd time shall indeed be a charm. Applying to grad school, especially schools with small programs, sucks ballz and can really kick your emotional/financial ass, but yknow, rejection helps build character, which all goes into making better work, right? Ha.
