  1. Thanks for the response, fullofpink. I plan to call up the Admin tomorrow to see what is typically offered in the package.
  2. Does anyone - through personal experience, research, or hearsay of friends - know what the offer of a five year Graduate Teaching Fellowship entails? I'm sure I'll get the details in two weeks at the interview, but am curious to know as soon as possible in order to properly evaluate a few other offers. I've also heard that the program has deteriorated a bit in the past few years... Any word to substantiate/refute that claim would be helpful. (If it affects your opinion - I'd be working with Gail Levin and Anna Chave on early 20th C American figurative art.) Many thanks in advance and best of luck to all!

That's the hope! Are you a student at UT now? If so, would you mind sharing a bit about your experience at Austin?

Perhaps everyone should call the UT Austin Admissions Office? After resigning myself to a long week of nail biting, I just received an email (yes, at 10 PM EST) saying I was admitted. For what it's worth: I communicated via email with Richard Shiff in November and December, but I didn't receive the good news from him.

Alright, I couldn't take it any longer and broke down and called the Graduate Coordinator at UT Austin. She said that they are in the final stages of making decisions and that "if it's an admit, you should hear by Friday. If not, you should receive a decision the following Monday at the latest." Finally, funding information will come at a later date and when I half-jokingly asked if this means that I shouldn't lose all hope just yet she said of course not. Either she is a really nice lady or we don't all need to despair... until Monday.

Am I just fooling myself by thinking that other acceptances may be sent out in the coming days? My status only very recently went from "In Review" to "Your Application Has Been Forwarded to the Graduate Committee" so I'm hoping there's still a chance?
  7. I was warned by a friend NOT to follow this forum as it is only anxiety and stress inducing, but here I am, and alas, I checked the results page. Seeing as Stanford sent out interview requests, and I did not receive one, I'll take that as a sign. This is going to be sooooo much fun! Also, in regards to the discussion above, I too am attempting to go straight from a BA to a PhD program. I spoke with a POI from Stanford on the phone who admitted that in recent years, the Department has tended to accept more and more students who already have MAs. However, a professor at Princeton said BA/MA has no bearing on your candidacy. Let's hope that holds true. Finally, does anyone know which schools tend to schedule interviews prior to making their final decisions? I was told that both NYU and Williams like to interview applicants... Thanks in advance!
  8. @once - Congratulations! That is wonderful news and hopefully the first of many acceptances for you! If it isn't too nosy, when we post acceptances/rejections, could we list the school to give others an idea of when they might be hearing as well? Also, thanks to everyone above for responding to my question about NYU-IFA interviews.
  9. Does anyone have an idea when NYU-IFA is supposed to schedule interviews with prospective PhD applicants? Also, if you realized a horribly embarrassing grammatical error/typo in your writing sample, is it worthwhile to draw attention to it in hopes of submitting a revised version or pray that professors are real people too and somehow forgive you for being an idiot? Finally, any information on when people have heard from Princeton, Stanford, Austin, Williams, and Yale in the past would be much appreciated. Thanks and good luck to everyone!
