  1. @ virion..I agree the program is pretty impressive.. I met with one of the profs from there last week and he said he was impressed with my background and blah blah.. and that he would recommend me to the admissions committee.. either he has forgotten or I was too late.. anyway goodluck with your interview decisions and fingers crossed for me and hyt5009 for the final interview weekend..(if at all!!)
  2. @virion.. Thanks for the info.. How many ppl were with you for the interview? Also this might be too soon but are you looking to accept their offer or go someplace better? I'm trying to see if ppl are declining Pitt offers coz that is the only place left to yet give me a reply..thanks again!
  3. @hyt5009... Saw a post on grad cafe today for Pitt IBGP.. seems like that person emailed the program co-ordinator and got the reject.. I wonder if I should do that.. part of me wants to know finally (even if its a reject) part of me wants to still wait.. Anyway goodluck with the Baylor interview.. hope u rock it!!
  4. @ productive procrastinator.. I have a slightly different situation.. I only had Pittsburgh as my option so I applied to CMU, Upitt and Duquesne.. So far I have rejects from Upitt Biology, and no response from CMU and Upitt School of Pharmacy so I am assuming it is a reject.. Al my hopes are now on Dusquene so plz pray for me..
  5. @ hyt5009...lol I hope not.. seeing as Pitt IBGP is the only choice I have left.. I am in touch with a couple of Profs from there.. I met one of them last week and he seemed interested in working with me.. If they werent taking any more applicants I'm sure he would have told me so. I think they have 3-4 interview weekends; one of them was on Jan 20th, one on 17th Feb( from one of the grad cafe posts but am not sure how much I trust that).. they still should have a couple in March..so dont lose hope yet.. if I hear anything I shall keep u posted.. Fingers crossed for both of us!!
  6. @ hyt5009.. U applied to IBGP rite? I havent heard from them either.. they have interviews till March.. This was from the Dept of Biological Sciences; the MCDB program. I had to applyu to both due to my limited choice of Pittsburgh only.. Did you also apply to Biological Sciences in Pitt?
  7. @ productive procrastinator..I just got the same email today.. kinda sad.. wasnt really a great match but I had hopes from there.. All the labs i saw though has tons of students though so I wonder how many are they taking anyway...Where else have u applied?
  8. @hyt5009.. Me too..although I've applied to the Molecular Pharamcology track.. let me know if u hear something..
  9. @ jayeyesee.. Thanks, I thought so too.. Only I had heard that applicants whom the prof personally speaks up for normally get an invite or response from the department within a day or two..I guess I should be more patient..
  10. @ hyt5009.. What program did you apply for at Upitt? Also I had a general question and any insights would be helpful.. Yesterday I met this prof I am very interested in working with. I had an hour long convo with him about his research and such.. at the end he said he was very impressed with my credentials and that he would drop a line to the admissions committee about his evaluation of my profile. Is that a reason to be hopeful??? If yes, how soon should I expect a response before I start losing hope? At this place, the admission process is completely isolated and no prof can pick up an application and say I want this student; atleast thats wot he said..
  11. Has anyone heard from CMU biological sciences? I really want to know.. any help will be great..
  12. Hi has anybody heard from Carnegie Mellon biological sciences or Upitt Biological Sciences yet? Any news would be greatly appreciated..Thanks
