  1. For those accepted to NPSIA (congratulations to us!!) in the email I received it noted that if you wanted further info on funding send an email to the address provided. I did that and got a response back right away about my funding, which I'm really happy with. I've heard from friends who've gotten in that $2,500 is the standard offer, so anything above that feels lovely.
  2. Just got the official email from Dept of Poli Sci at UofT that I'd been admitted. I found out a few days ago by emailing the graduate secretary asking when I might expect to hear back, but this was the official admission email. I was really excited getting into UofT, its my top choice for sure out of the 3 I've been admitted to. BUT they're offering no funding whatsoever. And even though the program is only one year I don't know if I can or want to try and swing studying in Toronto with zero funding... "We regret that the Department is unable to provide funding for students in the MA Program, but information is available on the School of Graduate Studies website regarding available grants and awards." Now I'm conflicted and sad
  3. That's good to know! I can't blame them, they probably get tons of nervous applicants emailing and calling. I wouldn't want to tell all those students a date, then not be ready for a couple weeks after that. Better for their admins sanity to say a bit of a later date and see if things get all done and processed sooner. Now, fingers crossed they have good news for me! : )
  4. Guelph gave me a 2 week extension on accepting or declining their offer so that's good. In the meantime I've been accepted at both UofT Poli Sci and York for Dev Studies! McGill Poli Sci dept said students can expect to hear back mid-April and McMaster for Poli Sci - Global Politics said late March to early April.
  5. I've looked to see if my question is in any other forums but they all focus on the US April 15th deadline and of course as we know, Canadian schools don't follow that guideline. So I'm hoping to get some help here! On Jan 31st I got an email from the Poli Sci Admissions person for Guelph that I'd been accepted into their program. I was excited to hear back so soon, although it is my safety school. They're offering me a very competitive funding package but I haven't heard back from any of the other 6 schools I've applied to so I'm definitely not making any decisions at this point. Now I've received a letter from the Grad Studies Dept at Guelph that says I have to accept or decline by March 14th! I got the letter in the mail yesterday, which means I've have 1 week to make my decision before mailing them the form back! I likely will not have heard back from a single other program by then. In particular another poster here said they contacted McGills Poli Sci dept and decisions won't be out until late April, and Carleton's NPSIA program usually gives out results around the same time. I intend to ask Guelph for an extension but if they say no or if it is only until say March 30th and I haven't heard back from many other programs by then, I'm not sure what I should do. So basically my main question is - Are there any repercussions to accepting and then later declining an offer? Or is it just extremely poor form? Also, how might I word an email asking for an extension to accept/decline Guelph's offer? Thanks for any advice!
  6. I applied to 7 program, which is $700 approx. in application fees alone. But the fact that I went to 4 different schools for my Undergrad - and some programs requesting 2 official transcripts per school attended - meant that I spent about $1500 total :S Before anyone asks how I managed to go to 4 schools for my undergrad, I did my first year at one local university, transferred in my second year to a different local university (the school I graduated from), studied abroad in Australia for a semester at yet another university, and took a summer French language bursary program at a university in Montreal. Every school wanted at least 1 official transcript from each of those 4, and UBC even wanted an official translated copy for my Canadian french transcript. Added up FAST!
