  1. Indeed. Well, I wish you the best of luck on getting in. I'm an alum, and they tend not to take their own, but I had to apply.
  2. I think that's it. I'm hoping they haven't contacted all the theory admits or wait-lists yet.
  3. That's a really good outlook to have! Cheers! p.s. I dig your Supersonics icon.
  4. You are totally right. My mistake! Hopefully we hear from them this week!
  5. I don't think we'll hear from Cornell until the end of the month or possibly the beginning of March, if last cycle is any indicator. However, I would rather hear something sooner than later.
  6. I had a similar reaction when I got Minnesota's call. I'm sure I sounded like an idiot on the phone, but the DGS didn't let on if he thought so. Congrats on your admits!
  7. Congrats to all the admits today! Condolences to those who were not offered admission. Don't lose hope! There is a long way to go yet in this cycle!
  8. I did. My guess (if last cycle is any indicator) is that admits should hear something next week. But really, who knows?
  9. "My top schools where I want to apply to are Oxford and the Sorbonne. My safety's Harvard."
  10. Congrats to all of today's admits: UCLA, University Of Connecticut (Storrs), University Of Rochester, University Of Massachusetts Amherst, University Of Virginia! Apologies if I missed anyone. I hope everyone on here gets good news soon.
  11. I hope you get a funded PhD offer, but if not, and you get a MAPSS offer, I would take it. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the program. Good luck!
  12. That's how it worked when I first applied to Chicago. However, my understanding is that they don't just offer admission to MAPSS to everyone who got rejected from the PhD program. Rather, the Political Science department forwards those applications they see as promising (but not quite good enough for a PhD offer) to MAPSS, and then they review your application. All said, it does feel like a consolation to some people, but my experience was that MAPSS afforded me an invaluable academic opportunity that I know made me a much more competitive PhD applicant this cycle.
  13. I second that, and congrats to the University Of Massachusetts Amherst admit!
  14. I received my offer from Minnesota today, but my status is still "awaiting program decision" as well.
  15. Thanks! It's one of my top choices! I hope to work with Nancy Luxon and Antonio Y Vázquez-Arroyo.
  16. Thanks! It was a phone call from the Director of Graduate Admissions. Official offers going out in a couple of days. Fully funded for 5yrs. I'm going out to celebrate tonight. I hope everyone gets great news soon!
  17. Same here. I almost didn't apply this cycle because of my low quant score and sub-par AW, but like forestgreen and raptureonfire above, I've had some luck. In short, your GRE score doesn't define your potential as a graduate student, so don't crucify yourself over it.
  18. Congrats to U Chicago!!! Did my M.A. there. Awesome program, awesome people.
  19. I thought I was the only one who received the "Hey, remember when we rejected your application last week? Yeah, we still feel the same about you this week." message from UCSD. Glad to hear I wasn't the only one to get the special treatment.
