Hello! I'm glad I found this! I've been weaning off the forum since my decision. I'll be attending PAFA in the fall! For at least the first few months, I'm going to be living a little out of Philly (45 minute drive) but for free (can't beat that!). I'll have to commute by train (I heard parking is hell in Philly). BUT I agree about a meet up! It'll be pretty neat to have contacts from different schools and occupations. I'll PM you guys my facebook.

Congrats!! I think it's safe to say that everyone was rooting for ya! Maybe we'll see each other in Philly!

Congrats! Can't wait to see where you go!

Has anyone heard from UTK painting? I thought I was out of the running when my application was temporarily halted at the graduate school, and my materials finally made it to the art school a couple weeks ago. (I applied before the financial aid deadline). When I called the art school, they said "not many decisions have been made for painting."
-
I'm sorry. But you still have options and waiting to hear from more schools. Keep your chin up!

So glad there are a few people going through the same! I guess I assumed most people on here were either single, married, or do long distance. In addition to my boyfriend, I also have to pack up my Great Dane. My boyfriend has also been supremely supportive. I'm so excited for my/our new adventure!

I accidentally pushed the red down arrow when trying to hit quote. So sorry! I don't see the option to undo it.... No, I did not interview. Basically waiting for official rejections from the rest of my schools. Good luck to you!!

I noticed they changed this right before the original deadline. If the site still says it, then it's probably true. If it were me, I would call or email to be sure. Good luck!

I can relate to all of the pictures/video today! Rejected by UNCG. I (stupidly) thought since I interviewed I would at least get waitlisted. End-of-the-week luck to everyone!

Susanbanthony69, I appreciate your response. Sorry I sounded so ticked. I wrote that after drinking several cups of coffee and attending Henry Rollins' spoken word show. I guess his fight-against-injustices energy was still with me. I am glad that you do have some experience with PAFA, and it's a perspective I haven't heard before. I have heard many positive things about the school, and it's good to hear the bad as well. I am definitely going to visit and see for myself.

I understand that finances are a major aspect of the decision making process for getting an MFA. So far, PAFA is looking like a great fit for my work and a city that I've dreamed of living in. I received a small scholarship and awaiting financial aid. If it's not enough, you bet I'm going to try my hardest to get more. If your definition of "prestigious" is based on ranking, reputation, and "famous" people to "study" with, then why is PAFA so bad? It may not be in the top ten (#58), and it may not offer a full ride (does every school??) but I guess I don't see why you have a low opinion of it if you don't know firsthand. Although the handful of people you know spoke positively of the school, you seem very suspicious. Can you elaborate why? Not everyone gets accepted to a top program, not everyone gets the dream financial package, and some don't get accepted at all. I'm very happy that people on this board (you included) have been accepted with great funding. But you're giving off the impression that it's wrong to go to a school that I really want to go to. p.s. My undergraduate experience was excellent.

So happy for you!!!

Philly is awesome, but man, UGA's program looks great! Mick, hopefully better news floats your way from GA! Sculptor, congrats!!! And yeah, these Tyler emails are a little bit like salt on the wound.

Rejected from UGA. Boohoohoohoohoo.

Thanks for the info. I hear their printmaking is very competitive. I think there is someone on here who heard from ceramics from UTK, but I still waiting for painting. A good job to everyone who has heard good news today!

I wonder as well. I applied for painting and ran into a little hiccup with my application (wouldn't worry about it, probably didn't happen to you). My application might have reached the art department this or last week. I hope they haven't finalized decisions for every concentration yet.

Hi Tenbu! I was accepted as well. Pretty excited!
-
Accepted to PAFA by snail mail!
-
I also received my rejection letter in the mail from Tyler for painting. They also invited me via email to the MFA exhibition. Wah waaaah. blkjwl, I totally agree about going where we're meant to. And I am learning more about myself through this agonizing and humbling process.

NAME: PERMANENT: PHONE NUMBER: APPLICATION DATA ADMISSION TERM: ADMISSION TYPE: APPLICATION STATUS: DECISION: CURRENT PROGRAM This is how mine looked with my info on the right.
-
My application said that too for the longest time. I'm sure if they assured you then it's probably not an issue.
-
I'm pretty sure it was the Temple banner. Definitely not Slideroom. It's divided into two columns with your info on the right. It's underneath my name, address, etc. It has been blank since I checked it today. Perhaps if yours does not say anything, you are still in the running!
-
FYI, I was checking the online status of some of my apps today, and my Tyler says "Application Status: Decision Made" and "Decision: Applicant Denied." It didn't say this about two weeks ago. I was expecting it since I wasn't notified when others on this board were. For those who have made it, go forth and conquer!
