I don't know much about the anthropology program, but the student to faculty ratio tends to be pretty low (definitely lower than UA!). I've really enjoyed working with all of the professors I've been in classes with. For the most part they have been very accessible and easy to reach. Traffic isn't bad. Its definitely a small town so can get a little backed up in the summer with tourists, but it never takes very long to get anywhere. It's much much better than Tucson traffic! The busses are all upgraded and fairly new. If you live near campus its really easy to catch a bus. I would just avoid living in the smaller outlying neighborhoods, they're the only areas that don't really have great transportation.

I was just accepted to NAU as well and will most likely be attending (unless one of the other universities I applied to is feeling generous and offers me funding!). I did my post bacc at NAU and currently live in Flagstaff, so if you have any questions about the city or the program I'd be happy to help.

Northern Arizona University offers this class online during the summer. Not terribly expensive... -
Flagstaff is definitely a much different climate than Tucson. I lived in Tucson for several years before moving to Flag and it's a really big change. The town is very small, only about 65 thousand people. The weather is completely opposite. There are actually 4 seasons, and a very long winter. The winters have been light the past 2 years, but usually they receive a pretty substantial amount of snow. That being said, Warm weather is only a short drive away. There is a lot to do in terms of outdoors activities and a decent nightlife. I really enjoyed the change, but I was getting sick of the desert. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the city or NAU, I'd be happy to answer them for you.

I was accepted this afternoon to the Northern Arizona grad program! I almost fell over in the store when I got my email! This was my first choice because I won't have to move, risk a long distance relationship or pay out of state tuition! Congrats to everyone else that got acceptances today. What a great afternoon! Time to go celebrate! -
I saw that! I figured they made all of their initial calls last week and pretty much lost hope on being in their first round. My interview went well, but I didn't really feel like I had the chance to make much of an impression. Here's hoping that some of those first round picks turn them down quickly! I applied to the university of new mexico and eastern new mexico U, but not to NM State. I really hate the location of their program, and don't think that I could stand actually living there for 2 years! Other than that I don't know very much about their program specifically since I discounted them early on. I've heard good things from the students that I know who have attended though.

I also applied to Chapman and haven't been invited to interview. I've kind of given up on them actually. I figured they would have interviewed me by now. Where did you hear that they are doing interviews through April? -

Just saw that someone was accepted to Pacific University today by phone. Now I'm feeling the anxiety! The days feel like they're getting longer and longer, but I'm not sure that I want to hear back if its a rejection! -
I did my undergraduate at U of A. I loved it down there! I would stick with Sam Hughes neighborhood to the east of campus or any of the neighborhoods north of campus. Going too far south gets a little scary... It's also nice to be close to campus because traffic can be pretty awful at rush hour. Stay away from the big college oriented apartments (starpass, sterling) unless you like a lot of partying and police visits at 2 am for noise disruptions. U of A itself is a nice red brick campus thats near downtown. Lots of activities and diversity. My only complaint was the weather, the summers are really hot!

Has anyone had an interview for Texas Tech? I have one this week and don't know really anything about the program or the interview process. They had a very different application, no letters of rec, SOP or resume. Their website is really lacking in information about the program as well. Any info would be appreciated! -

I just received an email confirmation that my application is complete from Redlands today (submitted in yearly January). Does that mean that they are running behind? Last year they were sending out admissions decisions by next week... -
I had my interview this afternoon and it went well. It was strange interviewing over skype. I wish that I'd had the opportunity to see the facilities and meet more faculty. Seems like a very promising program though! Hopefully we hear good news soon! I wouldn't mind living up in the pacific northwest again.

Thanks for posting! I'm excited and a little nervous. I will definitely let you know how it goes!

I wish I could afford to travel up there, but they gave such short notice! I also have 2 other interviews, so it seems impractical that I could travel all over the country in the next week. Pacific pushed back my skype interview to Monday, apparently they had way too many people that wanted to interview via skype and not enough time on Friday. Good luck at your interview! Keep me updated on how it goes!

Has anyone been to the Pacific University Speech Pathology Interviews yet? I'm curious about the set up and if they were group interviews or individual. It didn't look like they set aside a lot of time for the interview portion of the day!

I got an invite for an interview today!! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I definitely bottomed out last night with this whole application process. I don't think I was prepared for it to be so stressful! Hang in there, they're still sending out those interview invites! -

It's so frustrating seeing everyone getting interviews at all of the schools I applied to and not hearing anything Definitely becoming much less optimistic. -

I used to have those dreams all the time! Especially right before I graduated undergrad a few years ago. Thankfully they haven't started up again since applying to grad school! -

Hi All! I've never posted before, but the stress of application season is really getting to me. I think I've started driving my friends and family insane by talking about it, so I decided to come here and talk to like minded people! I had a dream that I was in a vegas style casino and all of the graduate schools were posting the names of the people they accepted on a giant score board (like the ones for horse races). I kept looking and looking and my name wasn't on any of them! When I woke up I was so upset. Then I realized it was still February, and I won't find out anything for another month at least!
