  1. Just got accepted at BU and that's where I'm going. So excited to be joining you all there! Congrats to everyone!
  2. Hi footballfan, I can't speak to LUC, but I was just accepted at Boston College last week. They're rated number ten, but in comparison to some of the other programs I've researched/applied to, their coursework and specialization options are fairly limited. They have a 50% acceptance rate, which is pretty selective as far as MSW programs go on the East Coast. Incoming class will be around 500 people if my sources are correct. I haven't heard back yet about scholarships or financial aid, that information is supposed to come later. Good luck!
  3. Hi Wishing! I'm waiting to hear back from BU. I'm curious about your experience with the online system they have. I've heard that for some people it says "decision not yet reached" but mine only gives me a receipt for the admissions fee and confirmation that my references and application was received. I also don't see anywhere to click to log out. Was it the same for you? I've been accepted at BC and Simmons and their system was so much more user friendly! Also, when did you submit your application. I'm anxiously awaiting their decision!
  4. Thank you! That's horrible! The same thing happened to me at a few schools. And my recommender went on vacation, etc. It was a complete mess. Good luck!
  5. Just got accepted to Simmons! They offered me a merit scholarship of $8,000 a year as long as I maintain a B average. Still waiting on Columbia, BU, and BC. BU just informed me that they misplaced one of my transcripts, so the wait will continue even longer! Does anyone familiar with the Simmons program know anything about the training opportunity they have with the Harvard School of Public Health? I contacted the head of the program weeks ago, but he still hasn't gotten back to me. Time to try again!
  6. For those of you who have already been accepted or rejected by Columbia, BU, BC, or Simmons, would you mind sharing your stats? I'm still waiting to hear back. 3.72 in political science & applied ethics from a private uni, years of volunteer experience with abused women and children, internships at social service agencies, and I'm currently employed full-time at the largest anti-hunger nonprofit in MA. Anyone already living in NY have anything to say about the lifestyle there? The idea of relocating is nerve-racking.
  7. For those of you who have already been accepted or rejected, would you mind sharing your stats and anything else you know about the process? I'm still waiting to hear back. Completed my application on 1/9, so I'm not panicking quite yet (well, maybe just a little bit.) 3.72 in political science & applied ethics from a private uni, years of volunteer experience with abused women and children, internships at social service agencies, and I'm currently employed full-time at the largest anti-hunger nonprofit in MA. And on another note, what do people think about the importance of an ivy league education for social work? Is it really worth the price in the long run for someone looking to take on leadership roles in the macro side of things? Or would it be more prudent to get a dual msw/mph degree from another school in the top twenty for half the price?
