  1. Well, I no longer have to worry about the phone call, as I checked the website this morning (prompted by the first poster this morning on the results page), and saw that it had updated this morning. First rejection (it was a nice letter, at least), but that's okay! I still have plenty of schools to be anxious about.
  2. I've decided that I'm getting a new tattoo for every major academic achievement. I got my first tattoo shortly before I graduated high school, and I'm planning my second to celebrate my BA. It's going to be on the side of my foot (easy to hide - like all of them will be) and it will be "la lunática, la amante, la poeta" which is from the line "the lunatic, the lover, and the poet" from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. (My first one was from the show "Supernatural," after the Shakespeare it will be from "Doctor Who," and then after that more Shakespeare - this time from The Tempest). So yeah, all my tattoos show what a giant TV/lit nerd I am, and I am okay with that.
  3. This. I have a feeling "Oh my god, are you kidding me?!?" is probably not the most appropriate response. If I were to get such a call, I would probably let the POI or DGS do most of the talking. Safer all around.
  4. My first CDs (which I got for my birthday with my first discman) were the soundtracks for Lion King, Lion King II, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. So... I don't remember the first CD I bought for myself. Probably Britney Spears or N'Sync, but in my defense, I was 8.
  5. I'm in the same boat! No call for UMass (yet?...), but still hanging on for Tufts. I'm hoping that since Tufts has a couple of Early Modern grad students that are supposed to graduate this year and one next year, my chances might go up. I just want good news from one school so I can 1. be ecstatic and 2. get everything squared away for my graduation this year from undergrad.
  6. I got the e-mail as well, and no decision yet. I've decided that the reason why is that they are waiting to post online until it's more likely that I've received my acceptance packet in the mail...
  7. I am 20 - turning 21 in June. Lots of AP credits and very careful undergrad planning has allowed me to graduate a year early (but still w/ a good amount of research exp. and study). I'm hoping programs don't think that I'm too young. We shall see!
  8. I just added my e-mail to make sure it's there; my e-mail wasn't in there until now, but I did receive the Tufts e-mail this morning, so I'm not sure that it makes a difference. Who knows? I think this qualifies as cruel and unusual punishment though for all of us confused applicants!
  9. I know the feeling! I saw the e-mail from them this morning and got super excited to see the subject line, "Graduate Application," but just finding out they'll be deciding soon? Sent my anxiety levels through the roof!
  10. Hi all! I'm new to the board and (anxiously) waiting for a decision from UMass (I'm Early Modern/Ren Lit) since it will likely be the first program I'll hear from, and I thought this might help. For my GRE section on the application, it says GRE General Test Received 10/15/2011 and then GRE Subject Test Received / /. I don't think it gives a date for the subject scores, and for the first date - that is the date I took the Subject Test, so I just think their dating and explanantion for it just isn't that clear. They'll probably have everything for you guys. Best of luck - I'm hoping we all hear sometime this week (or, you know, definitely tomorrow for the preservation of sanity).
