  1. I won't say which lab you should go since I am not you But please remember one thing: This is a choice that will follow you for at least 5 years. Apart from class and your bedroom, you will spend most of the time there so you want to have n environment that you feel good about. Equipment is one of the factors, but how about people? Apart from adviser, are other people also friendly, helpful and make you feel warm? If yes, go ahead and choose that lab In your case, money seems not to be a problem as both labs can obtain money to support their project
  2. Worrying right now as I still struggle with finding a thesis lab.
  3. Make friends in graduate school is also important. In short, they can help you in study and also in your experiments. In long, you are building your professional network (They are also professors in the future!)
  4. To be honest, acceptance is the first hardship in our graduate study and we still need to pass the exam and get our thesis proposal done. So, prepare yourself and get ready for future challanges. (I also need to be ready)
  5. Accepted into Case Western Reserve University Genetics and Genome PhD Program and going to attend Yay I finally have 1 offer
  6. I saw 1 interesting suggestion from other forums. That guy says use the rejection letter that you received as a module and throw away those useless word like "we have lots of potetial applicants bah bah bah" Add the fact that you decided to attend other school and that should be good enough
  7. However, you can only attend to one program. So everybody knows that will happen. No need to feel sad about rejecting other schools since they will have enough students for their next semester. Yet, I will say spend more time to compare which school is your best fit since this will affect your future so much
  8. I agree since if I know the exact reason then I have a chance to improve in a particular point and make my application better for next year. If adcom just says we have unprecedented number, then this doesn't help at all since the number of applicants won't change a lot and we don't know what can we do to make our application stand out.
  9. ............Heading to Case Western this weekend BTW, got wait-listed by Rutgers (Still waiting for my first acceptance )
  10. At least you got news from them. Mine..........maybe coming next week (rejection I think)
  11. Anyone got any news from Brandeis MCB program? They are really REALLY quiet.
  12. WHAT!? I got my interview on 10th Feb and I still didn't got any news from them BTW, what program did you apply?
  13. I always have a feeling that if we don't hear from adcom at teh end of Feb, we can simply assume that we got rejected
  14. Finally got a official rejection letter from Mount Sinai today
  15. The lab rotation system is to help students to find a suitable lab for their thesis. So I would say you can always change the lab. (However, I would put that lab in one of my rotation to show that I am really interested in working with that professor).
  16. Roswell Park, that one was done. It was on 10th Feb for their recruitment event and they said that was the only recruitment event. Now I am waiting for 1, just 1 offer an that will be great for this year
  17. Just received a rejection from MD Anderson. Not surprise at all. However, please give one, just one offer and that will be great
  18. A nice thank you letter won't hurt since you may have chances to apply those programs again (who knows?) or see those people in other situations (i.e. conferences, collaborations, etc.). So decline the offer and send them a nice thank you letter. (They know not all the students will accept the offers, that's why they also have a waitlist).
  19. Wow, that's so different than what I heard. Maybe I heard wrong. So please don't lose heart yet
  20. Not for Stony Brook Genetics since I called Kate and she said all invitation for interviews had sent out for Genetics program (MCB is still reviewing)
  21. I will wait until the official acceptance letter arrives before celebrating. Please reminded that nothing is fixed until official notification comes. (Of course I hope u will get that soon, but just want to say proceed with caution)
  22. I won't be too excited about this email since last year I got a similar email from one of my interviewer and lastly got rejected (although I was on the waitlist)
