Thanks TeaGirl for the link. I visited the school on Friday. It was really impressive research-wise for me. I didn't get a chance to see the graduate housing, but many of the graduate students said that its very very nice but too expensive. However, in your case, the graduate housing might be the best option for the first year if you chose to attend the school. I saw other prospective graduate students for the other departments visiting as well, but I can't really say much in terms of what they experienced in the department of mechanical engineering. I didn't get a chance to tour the town, but it seemed to have improved considerably as compared to five years ago. One thing I can say is that it seems like a lively place to live and study, if not relatively small. With regards to safety, I got the sense that if you are smart enough to not walk around at night alone you'll be fine which is typical anywhere.

Summer Rain

Received an email containing that line last week from the chair of the admissions committee and I still kept thinking that maybe the grad school peeps would reject me . I'll remain slightly uncertain until I have the official offer in my hands.

Freak Out

I'm done with mine. Didn't have any earth-shattering results so it ended fairly quick. I could work on some stuff but they won't be of any significance to my thesis. However, my first draft is due in March so I need to start writing it like now.

Anyone applied to RPI?

Anyone going to RPI? Just wanted some current insights on the school and town. I actually grew up around the capital region area and I just wanted a more updated outlook of Troy especially since I hear that it has been going through some sought of revival like Schenectady. Does anyone know anything about the chemistry department in RPI by the way?

Got into Syracuse University. Still waiting for the official offer in order to determine the exact funding details, but from the email I received it sounds good. So glad to hear back from a school.

Mine is even lower! I'm trying to wrap my mind arround how badly I did. Like wow. Do you think there was a mistake in the grading? LOL I'm doomed.
