  1. Ooo, very nice. I love the photos from the performances and your works on paper are extremely strong as well.
  2. Hey everyone! Back again, applying! This will actually be round 3 for me (round one: got accepted to Cranbrook, couldn't afford it, round two: got accepted to SMFA, didn't like it). So far I am considering for an MFA in painting/visual arts/whatever they call it: Yale SAIC Rutgers VCU University of Michigan Ohio State University University of Minnesota Twin Cities University of Chicago Hunter But I'm not done researching, so some of those may leave, new ones may be added on. My website is here, critique/comment if you'd like. Ready to start this crazy adventure once again!
  3. Thanks Michael! I got accepted to one school last year (SMFA) but didn't feel like they were right for me. I'll admit that my portfolio was scattered and my statement could have been better. I am done with the textile paintings and my newer stuff is centered around a narrative I've created with my "girls." Hopefully I can photograph it soon. I have thought about reincorporating the knitting though!
  4. http://ashleyhuckabee.tumblr.com Don't have a lot of new stuff up yet because I need to buy a camera.
  5. So SVA called me because apparently someone is dropping out and they have a spot for me. Say whaaaaaat? Orientation is 8/30! They also would not be able to give me any financial aid for the first year. Confusing stuff.
  6. So it begins...let's talk about places we're thinking of applying to/anything else you want to talk about!
  7. I'm curious if there are any notable schools in Canada to get a MFA?
  8. Did you go to the school? If it didn't feel right, I would wait. You can only get your MFA once!
  9. Thanks for the link! Lots of good info there. Getting transcripts early makes everything so much easier! As for myself, I think the next time around I am going to probably switch out one of my recommenders. They missed a couple of deadlines and I had to really be on them to make the deadlines they did. Too much stress! I think I will submit a more cohesive portfolio. I wanted to show diversity in my work, but I think the portfolio may have just ended up seeming confused.
  10. I thought this might be helpful to those of us looking at another round of appying... What would you have done differently during the application process?
  11. Had to call RISD today to ask what was up. I knew I was rejected, just wondered why I had received absolutely nothing from them. Turns out they sent my rejection letter to a wildly wrong address. Way2go, RISD.
  12. Still haven't received anything from RISD, not even a rejection. Also found out another friend of mine from undergrad also got waitlisted at SVA. It feels like a ton of people are waitlisted. Doesn't give me a lot of hope.

    WAITLISTED?!

    I couldn't afford it. :/

    WAITLISTED?!

I am waitlisted at SVA, I'm not expecting anything honestly. Last year I was waitlisted at Cranbrook for printmedia and they told me that I was the top person on it, so I actually got accepted about a week of being waitlisted.
  15. I took out around $14,000 in private loans for undergrad. Never again.
  16. My VCU application no longer says "complete ready to review," but doesn't really say anything else. WHAT DOES THIS MEEEEAN?!!
  17. I got the same thing too and didn't know whether to take it as a rejection or not. :/
  18. Arghh I wish I would hear something from VCU (preferably not a rejection!). When I called them, they said their decisions were not done. My application still says "complete ready for review." P.S. Congrats to all of the acceptances! My boyfriend got accepted to Cranbrook (painting) and is definitely going. I know he met perhaps a couple of you at Cranbrook.
  19. Rejection from USC, which was completely expected. My only hopes are getting off the waitlist at SVA or hearing something from VCU (which may be a pipe dream as they may interview everyone they accept? I'm not sure).
  20. Is that for just one class? So both years would be around 60? No, they didn't. I'm thinking of calling tomorrow and asking.
