  1. @Don'tHate - Have you heard from CUNY at all? I was told I would hear something last week, but nothing yet....
  2. @TripWillis: Thanks for the information about funding at CUNY! I'm Comp LIt, but do you know from your experience in the program at all whether landing an interview is a strong sign that you'll be accepted or whether there still a lot of deliberation after this process is complete? I have one coming up and while I think it's positive, I'm a wee bit nervous.
  3. Hey Seatbelt: Thanks for the post. I have been curious myself! I was just asked to engage in a 20 minute skype interview as well. I'm Comp Lit, but I think all Humanities are tending toward this interview process a bit more. They complimented my writing, said they enjoyed reading me, but wanted to know more about me. Mine is scheduled for a couple weeks from now and it is my general impression that you can't learn a ton from 20 minutes, so clearly they think you are a qualified applicant prior to this conversation. My guess is that they use the call to gauge professionalism, ability to think on your feet a bit, and motivation/sincerity. Of course, I am not an expert, and I would be curious to hear about others' experiences!!
  4. Did anyone get an interview with the CUNY grad center program? Trying to figure out whether I should go to campus or do it via skype and of course if anyone has interview tips, I would love to hear them!!!
  5. I emailed the director yesterday evening and received an acceptance email later that night. No funding in the first year, which is apparently the case for more than half of the incoming Eng grad students. Not fully sure what to do. Any current UW students--or anyone really!--on this thread who can offer recommendations? Trying to gather as much info as possible quickly to make a decision. Good luck to others who are still in the pool!
  6. Has anyone else not heard from the department yet? I called on 3/30 and the secretary was somewhat positive about my application. Even if this meant a speedier rejection, she seemed to think the answer would come very soon. Well, that was nearly two weeks ago . . .
  7. For those who posted acceptances via mail, were these specifically for the master's or does that automatically mean you're in the PhD program once you complete your master's? Congrats!
  8. My sympathies go to the person who just posted rejection for Washington on the boards. I'm sure I'll be joining you soon. There is likely some rational for this slow roll-out, but from this end it just feels hella cruel. Are they seriously sending one rejection per day?????
  9. I haven't heard anything yet. I'm tempted to contact them, but it sounds like there are still a couple weeks to go before final decisions are made.
  10. For those of you who posted rejections, did you notice a change in your status? Thinking my fate is that of yours... :/
  11. I'm feeling numb too! So no one on this thread has heard from UW? They must be notifying in batches . . .
  12. I like your spirit, capacity. Haha. We are in the same doubt-faith-despair-hope oscillation. I am actually feeling better as time goes on regardless of the turnout!
  13. Also no letter for me today and Buffalo is one of my top choices. I was almost certain I'd find one!
