I emailed SVA to find out where I was on the wait list. They wrote back saying they can't give me that info. That I just need to be patient....

Waitlisted, at SVA via snail mail. Letter was dated the sixteenth.

Got an email from Pratt saying they are accepting applications for their MFA program until March 30! Any one else get this? Wondering if they are trying to pick up some people who got rejections elsewhere. I didn't apply but visited and talked to several profs who were encouraging...

Wow, thanks for all the input. Seems like there's wide range of opinion about this and it probably depends on the school... And of course the applicant. I'm sure I could have polished my application a little harder and cleaned up my web site....probably a few classes wouldn't hurt.

Is there anyone out there applying who never got a BFA? It's interesting what Mr. Sad was saying... I took some art courses as an undergrad but never got a degree. I've been painting and showing my work for twenty years but after having a recent discussion with one of my old profs. I'm feeling a huge disadvantage going for an MFA without a previous art degree even though most schools don't require it. Was wondering if anyone out there could add perspective to this. Just got another rejection...UNH

BU doesn't do interviews. I was rejected last week so you're probably in the running.

How many painters out there have heard from RISD? Feeling like no new is a bad sign at this point.

I'm waiting for my rejection from MassArt too...no interview. If this trend continues I'm thinking more and more about residencies, better portfolios, statements etc... Good luck to all.

I you don't mind being asked... What schools didn't reply to you until after April 15? That sounds harsh!

I got the same treatment from SAIC at portfolio days in NYC. I got the feeling they were just trying to get more cash out of me. Other schools like Pratt told me my portfolio was strong. If you like the profs. and the program go for it. Other wise find a school that will give you what you're looking for, an MFA.

Good luck on your interview. I still haven't heard anything from MassArt. Perhaps I've been wait listed. It's making me anxious. All the best, Deep breaths and enjoy Boston.

Cinnamon, I'm pretty sure MECA is only a low res. mfa program. I've met a number of people who have gone through it and not been very happy. Portland however, is a very cool city. I'm forty six and am applying for similar reasons. Doubt creeps into my brain everyday. I have a wife and a dog and my own small business but I'm still compelled to seek out this opportunity. it will be a huge disruption and a giant financial hit but if I don't do it I'll always wonder.
