  1. I got an email. Subject line: MI Offer of Admission. Don't give up hope yet, though...I did have a pretty short turnaround time between submitting my application and getting my offer. (Two weeks!) I'm hoping this means they think I'm a strong candidate and will give me lots and lots of funding, but I've got no idea. The MI program might have different requirements or even a different committee than the PhD program, though, so my experience probably isn't relevant to yours. I hope you'll hear back soon. I submitted it late at night on the 12th of February. My referees got their letters in the week before. My application's still marked as under review, and I still haven't heard the "official offer" from the SGS. FWIW, on my other application (U of Illinois), one of my referees also got her letter in at the last minute. I still heard back from that school earlier than expected. Don't panic about whether or not your referees got the letters in late-it doesn't matter as much as your personal qualifications.
  2. Like Syrah said, nope. I got my offer on Monday (for Master of Information) and it says mine is under review as well. I'm supposed to get a funding decision by mid-March. Then I get the fun job of choosing between two very different schools...eep. I'm just happy to have a future, though!
  3. I got an offer of admission for the iSchool's MI program today! Still waiting on the official Graduate School offer and the funding decision, though. My app online also still says "under review." I'll check again after I get the "official offer" and see if it updates.
  4. I'm like you, SimilarlyDifferent - I'm interested in youth services as well. I'm not certain what age range or library type I'm going to go for (school vs public vs ???) but I know that it's what makes me the happiest.
  5. Whoa - seriously was not expecting this, but I got my acceptance to University of Illinois today! I thought it would be next week at the earliest, and more likely in March. I didn't get my last letter of recommendation in until the deadline date. It isn't the "official" admission notice, but considering I have the option to accept it or reject it right now, I'm not worrying about it. I am so super excited that I'm bouncing around!
  6. I had that happen to me with an internship last year - admission letter with the wrong name on it. In my case, they really HAD meant to send it to another person. (So embarrassing and demoralizing...) But the emailer checked it out and found that I was admitted too, and she sent my admission email shortly after. (I didn't have a POI, though.) I hope you get a positive answer soon.
  7. University of Illinois and University of Toronto for me, in that order. Mainly funding reasons - I get in-state tuition for Illinois. If I got full funding for Toronto (ha! in my dreams) it would be really hard for me to choose between them. I'm feeling really thankful that I have a fair amount of library experience under my belt. I'm hoping that supplements my GPA and gets me into at least one of those schools. I found writing my personal statement to be difficult...how to show that I have knowledge of the field without telling the committee what they already know?
  8. I've applied to the University of Toronto's Information Science MI program. I only got my application in this past Sunday, so I don't expect to hear back any sooner than March. I'm prepared to wait until May, though it shouldn't be that long. I'd be international if I went to UToronto, so I've also applied in-country to the University of Illinois, which is my first choice. But Toronto is a close second. The only difference in the two for me is cost - Illinois is in-state for me, so it's much much cheaper. If I magically get great funding for UToronto it will be a hard decision to make. Does anyone have any experience with UToronto grad programs and international student funding? I would assume that they would give funding to domestic students first. I'm a bit nervous about only applying to two schools. I have a third school whose applications are not due until June (!!) so I'm okay if I get rejected from both. I don't think it will happen, but the minute I think I've got in for certain is the minute I'll get rejected. Crossing my fingers for luck!
