  1. Is anyone planning on staying on the list? I think that getting off the list now is not likely, and probably the best to commit to other plans. what do you all think?
  2. Hey Varulv, Sorry to hear about Oxford Yale will maybe still work out? I still haven't gotten an email from them updating the waitlist, have you? I wonder when they will put us out of our misery. But I am sure we'll have an incredible experience, learning and otherwise, wherever we end up. Edinburgh will be absolutely amazing, no doubt.
  3. Did anyone hear from Yale? I haven't heard
  4. Hmmm, I hope you find out soon! My god, this whole grad school process is excruciatingly long! Would you prefer Oxford or Yale do you think?
  5. @MCRM: Just heard that they don't have any spots, haven't taken anyone off the list.
  6. Hey all, after being at the admitted students weekend at Duke all weekend, I've decided to decline offers at bren and U-M. narrowing in! All in all, Duke is impressive (and expensive!) and seems to offer students good return on their investment if they make the most of their time here. Let me know if you have specific Qs!
  7. @varulv, good luck!!! How are you feeling about HEC? I'm also on Yale waitlist, let's hope we get off soon
  8. SNRE report back: faculty was great. Almost all faculty was available to meet with prospectives, and everyone got to meet their adviser (if they were there). Super well rounded faculty in comparison to my impression of other schools I'm looking at, especially when it comes to the social sciences. Many people do multiple concentration areas, does not add too much course work Ability to take classes in other schools on campus is apparently easiest here of all other enviro unis. Funding: best funding is probably GSIs, which people ususally apply for in 2nd year (you usually have to take the course 1st). Some research assistantships also possible for those that seek them out.
  9. yah, calling will probably you give you some piece of mind and I dont think it can hurt
  10. Driving to U-M tomorrow. Let me know if you have particular questions you want answered.
  11. Varulv, I also got the re-eval email back in Dec (I think). Hope you hear good news soon!!
  12. Hey, anybody here also apply to ECM at Oxford? And does anyone have any insights about 1 year vs 2 year masters programs?
  13. about the 2 year vs 1 year... I wish I had some answers about this too. 1 year seems really fast.
  14. Hey, I finally just heard - after like 5 months. I got in! Did you hear yet?
  15. Also interested in Duke funding going into 2nd year. Will ask when I'm there for open house if no one hears before then.
  16. heyy, speaking of funding, does anyone know if people that get off the FES waitlist will get a funding offer?
  17. @LHL: reading more on Nicholas, I'm starting to lean towards that program too. Because of my ecology and conservation interests, I am drawn its marine campus and faculty, on top of the many great terrestrial-focused profs. While I was initially favoring FES for the flexibility that greendiplomat mentions, upon closer examination and emailing with faculty and admin, it seems that I can get the flexibilty I need at Duke.
  18. sure thing cunnin. and MRCM and anyone else. I'll add your questions to my list and conduct a full report back May go to U-M too, so let me know about those Qs too.
  19. MCRM, I'm in the same boat as you: none of the Duke concentrations fit my interests perfectly. However, I recall one of their reps at a grad fair saying that mixing of areas is OK. This is something I plan to investigate more at the admitted student's day. I also hope to meet with profs that are doing research in line with my interests. Have you looked at the faculty to see who matches your interests? Will you be down there?
  20. LHL, go to Duke, go to Duke! Jk, congrats jhuffine, I got into Bren a couple of weeks ago, but they may be accepting people by concentration area. I chose cons planning.
  21. @chriskyk, thank you, super helpful. I am going to be glass half full about this, but will also seriously look into Duke and U - M and pick one as a back up. What is your plan if you don't get in? Will you just forgo the double degree? fingers crossed
  22. oh wow, 63 seems like a lot. Plan B time?
  23. no, i haven't either. I hope it tells us what the chances are. So it seems that we should enroll somewhere else and back out if we get accepted? sorry about the rejects, guys. I'm sure we'll all have an amazing grad experience wherever we end up.
  24. no one else waitlisted??? OMG, how can I possibly wait any longer!!!
  25. waitlisted....
