Yup. Should be great. Since the school building is so removed from the rest of the campus, everyone is in the same building all day. This leads to making friends quite easily because you are with the same people in the same building all day. My biggest advice would be that even if you want to go into government, don't just take "practitioner" classes. Take a bunch of the best academic classes that are offered because it will help you immensely to understand what is going on. And it will train you to stay current with the news and the current debates in Washington. the practical stuff is changing all the time, but learning how to think is always valuable.

Also Clemson in close to the town Greenville, SC which is a great city in upstate SC that has a great downtown, wonderful waterfall park, and an awesome minor league baseball stadium. It is also two hours from Atlanta and Charlotte which I would escape to some weekends when I was in Clemson for undergrad. Any questions let me know,

Same question for me above - but I plan on just black and white

Anyone here thinking of going to Chicago CIR?
Bdeniso replied to strangertimes's topic in Government Affairs Forum
You my find more people over at the Political Science forum as CIR is slightly more targeted towards that. I lurk in both because I am currenty in a "government affairs" masters and going to a PhD program in Political Science next fall. -
Yes I am, but leaving to get my PhD next year

I am thinking of purchasing a desktop for next year to create a home office to get work done. I view that having a larger keyboard, external hard drive constantly plugged in, and a set stable working environment would be beneficial to get work done at home. I do plan on keeping my laptop for stuff on campus I may need to get done. Any recommendations for where to start for desktops?

http://traditions.tamu.edu/ This would be a good place to start. I went to a different university for undergrad, so coming here for my Master's was quite a shock due to many of these traditions. Tbh, I think some people take them a little too seriously and there is even arguments over what is a tradition and what isn't. (for example, at football games many people believe that for every yell one should remove your hat, however the university has said that is not a tradition so that actually causes some confrontations in the stadium I have seen.) However, alot of them are fun like the ring dunk, first yell, and revellie barking in class. Sometimes it can be a bit heavy, sometimes fun, but I think its definitley unique and makes the university stand out.

I havent found any good specific ones so far, but just looked around by googling. Looks like renting a house with some is the way to go though I agree. Hopefully there will be a good way to find a roomate!

Agreed, I was very impressed with the faculty and the seemingly large number of new professors they seem to be bringing in.

I have just accepted my offer to Notre Dame. Cycle closed for me! Exciting

I am currently in College Station and there are a few complexes that cater to grad students and families and are quiet, not undergrad type places. There is more housing options here than you could possibly imagine so Im sure you will find a place that suits you. Renting of duplex houses is also a popular option.

Hello to everyone going to Grad School in South Bend!

I agree. I took them in october so they definitley were scored in time, but my scores were not as high as I had hoped. I would have prefered to retake them but couldnt due to the deadlines. Luckily it worked out for me, but make sure you rock out on that test and get the best score you can!

It also appears as if I will be attending Notre Dame in the fall. To answer above, I was staying with a comparative politics student on my visit and he goes salsa dancing every week with a group, so that is definitley available. From what I heard, renting an apartment in a house or a house it self is inexpensive and the better way to go. There are some complexes but they are either way too expensive or have a tendency to catch fire, so I will hopefully be looking for maybe a small house to rent with someone else.
