  2. Ah, makes sense! I knew about its reputation, but not about their low funding... hmm... food for thought indeed. We'll see what happens! Thanks for the info!
  3. Thanks for letting us know guys! Really appreciate it! Also, I was under the impression that Carleton gave good funding... it's sucky to hear that this is not the case! I won't worry about it until and if I hear about them I guess. Thanks for the good luck wishes! and congrats to you both on your acceptances/future career paths!
  4. Eeep!!! Looks like it might be a close call! Thanks for the info! It'd be nice to keep us waitlisters posted when you do get your letter! And congrats on the acceptance btw!
  5. Question to those accepted to NPSIA: Can you share the deadline to accept/decline offers? Just trying to figure out if there is a possibility for the NPSIA committee to meet for second round acceptances before the end of April, as I have to accept another offer by mid-April if I don't hear back from NPSIA by then. Thanks!

  12. OMG!!! CONGRATULATIONS! That is such good news! That has just given me the hope I needed. I hope that I can get off the waitlist too! In the meantime, get cracking on those economics courses! And for those that know they don't want to go to NPSIA, turn it down please! You could make someone (like me) very very very happy!

  14. First of all, congratulations!!! that is huge! Second of all, if I were in your position, I think I would evaluate one more thing beyond money or prestige: what is it that you actually want to study? Ottawa U's program is definitely different than Carleton's so take a look at that and see what both programs offer in terms of classes, research opportunities, and how they all fit with your area of interest. While money is very important, you may find that Carleton fits better with where you want your research to go. The same may happen with Ottawa U. While you may be dazzled by Carleton's prestige, you may find that Ottawa U offers you more in terms of being a more focused program in International Development. They seem to have courses that are more tailored to international development specifically while Carleton's are a bit more generic (this is from reading the course descriptions, so it is a subjective opinion, not the absolute truth!) Or you may find that Carleton's courses/possibilities for research are more closely aligned with what you're looking for and you may have to sacrifice money in that scenario... I'd say take some time to look at your options and decide what you wanna do. Both programs are really strong and offer co-op opportunities and funding, so it's a matter of deciding what works best for you. Good luck! and let us know what you decide on!

  17. Thanks for letting us know and giving us some hope! I wish you guys all the best in the program you have chosen! HAHAHA! Actually, can I meet the person of my dreams who will sweep me off my feet, win the lottery and go live in Fiji? You make it sound like an awesome alternative to grad school! But seriously, I agree with you, I am extremely happy for those who got in on the first round. It's such a competitive program and those who got in right away should feel extremely proud! As for us, keeping the faith for sure! Must stay positive to survive this cycle!
  18. We're on the same boat! I also got that email, but it wasn't my only program. I'm still waiting on some programs to get back to me. Best wishes my fellow waitlister, I hope we both make it off the waitlist!

  23. Have not heard back from them but I wouldn't freak out just yet! I sent an email to the Grad Admin and she told me that decisions have started to be sent out but will continue being sent out all through the week as the committee is not done reviewing all the files. So technically, you're still being considered until you receive a rejection. Keep strong! I'm doing the same!
