  1. PhD is usually a good look for working in think tanks. At the same time, work experience is king when you're job hunting. Do you have any?
  2. That's undoubtedly true, but they also surely offer more spots than they they expect to fill. They don't anticipate a 100% acceptance rate for offers of admission.
  3. Decided on Mich SNRE. Anyone else going to Mich? Seems like most folks that have been posting have chosen Duke or Yale.
  4. I'm attending Mich with a smaller scholarship than that ($5K). My understanding is that the GSIs are pretty competitive, so I wouldn't necessarily count on that money going in. But if you develop a good relationship with the professors that you would like to work with and excel in their classes, then you can improve your odds of getting a GSI spot. There are some merit scholarships available once you're attending as well, although my understanding is that they are very specific, ie you can only receive a certain scholarship if you are a dual degree ESS student pursuing vehicle emissions research. Not sure if they are all that specific, but you get the idea. I'm in DC as well, so if you're going to Mich and want to grab a beer and chat before the fall please feel free to send me a message.
  5. Thanks for the report! Did you get a sense for how competitive the GSI positions are? I spoke with a few students a couple weeks ago that had all done GSI and research assistant positions several times over, so it's tough to tell whether they are relatively accessible positions or if the top students just get them over and over again.
  6. How was the visit? Anything to report? I'm heading out to visit next week for a few days.
  7. This is all conjecture of course, but considering the fact that some people who received significant funding only just found out they were accepted by checking the site, I wouldn't worry just yet. Keep your heads up!
  8. When you log into the application portal there will be a link at the bottom of the main page below "decision status:_____" when a decision is available. Good luck!
  9. Sorry to ask again, but are yall checking status through the SIPA online application, or is there another web portal to check? NM, I see the decision at the bottom now. Also accepted with no funding. Probably going with UMich SNRE, so good luck to those that are waitlisted; I hope you're bumped up!
  10. Also applied to E&E concentration. I guess that explains the silence.
  11. Are yall just checking in the online application, or is there somewhere else to check status online? edit, jinx haha
  12. Just registered as I've been browsing for the last month or so and thought I ought to contribute something. Here's my status of now: Applied: UMich SNRE, Columbia SIPA, Yale School of Forestry, Berkeley ERG As of now I've heard from ERG (rejected) and SNRE (accepted). SNRE was definitely a top pick for me so I'm pretty excited! Hoping everyone has equally positive results.
