  1. All this waiting isn't funny anymore
  2. This week is it! I can feel it! Let's get this started again
  3. This is my insecure self speaking. Has anyone had the experience of not being notified that your application was incomplete and ultimately being rejected because of it? I've sent a couple of follow-up emails to my department in the past few weeks or so only to receive absolutely no replies. I'm just assuming that my application is indeed complete and that it's still under review. Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated.
  4. Still no news to this day. I know that enduring this waiting game isn't quite the same as getting the silent treatment from a girl. You're bound to hear one way or another because submitting the application wasn't free. The application fee should entitle you to at least a notice of rejection.
  5. I just found this thread. I thought I'd share it... http://chronicle.com/forums/index.php/topic,85804.0.html
  6. Spring break is only a break from teaching. It's not necessarily a break from other duties for professors, so it's very possible that we'll hear during the break.
  7. This week is almost over... and still nothing! And next week is spring break
  8. I have midterms of my own too, but I'm not sure if they're distracting me from worrying. Not having heard just makes studying for them harder. This can be the week that I'll get that acceptance, or this can be one of the longest weeks of the whole semester for me
  9. Thanks for the encouraging words. Maybe I'll send a follow-up email next week... maybe.
  10. Is it true for programs on rolling admissions? Your thoughts?
  11. I'm now using a different account on gradcafe because I wanted to be more anonymous. I've deleted my previous posts to this thread. As I have said, I, too, wish to transfer to another school. Unlike for OldDome, there were no promises of any funding from the very beginning at my current institution. I'm keeping the number of people who know about my plans to transfer to a minimum, so in the case of a rejection, I can stay in my current program, and not too many people will need to know about my plans to transfer in the first place. I know word can quickly spread, but I'm seriously not too worried about people in my department knowing that I've applied to transfer out. I'm a human being, and I've got to do what makes me happy, and I'll be polite and respectful to the people around me as much as possible while doing so. For me, I don't think things could get much worse from where I am now, and it's more than just the money. The worst that could happen for me by transferring is that the money won't be any better, but at least I'll be in a place where I know I can be generally happier.
