  1. Is anyone else still waiting for notification from UCI? (UC Irvine)
  2. My SO hasn't heard anything yet. We're assuming no interview = rejection, but since other people have received responses (good and bad) we're anxious. It's almost April 1st!
  3. Is it weird that my SO hasn't heard anything from Columbia New Genres yet? We're assuming no interview = rejection, but since other people have received responses (good and bad) we're anxious...
  4. The big boss is unpredictable and she definitely blows hot and cold, lol. Well...for what it's worth, I'd be leaving the company because I'm relocating, not because of work related problems or another offer. I started this job knowing next to nothing (it was a "no experience necessary" corporate job -- rare, I know), so obviously someone else could too. The thing they might be pissed about is actually having to seek out a replacement, but ultimately that's not my worry, especially since this isn't my field. I certainly didn't expect to work here forever... I just hope my immediate supervisor will be a reference if necessary.
  5. Yikes! Thanks for the heads up. I guess I won't give more than 3 weeks notice. I just hope they don't ask me about transitioning to full time before then...
  6. I'm in the same boat, except it's my SO that's going to grad school and not me! I'd like to throw out a question since I've already read one instance of someone being fired because of the circumstances: Even though I'm a part time employee, I am "one half of the department" at my company. Obviously I have to give two weeks' notice minimum, but I was thinking about giving three so I'm not completely pulling the rug out from underneath my bosses. BUT -- is it technically possible to be fired on the spot so they don't have to keep paying me while they hire a replacement? I would've worked there for approximately 11 months, and there would've been a decent chance that part time turned into full time. However, this is not at all my field! I was never planning to work at this company for the long haul, so that makes me feel better in a way.
  7. Hello 2012 applicants! Thought you might appreciate some input and solidarity, despite the fact that I'm not an applicant. My significant other, however, did apply to a bunch of MFA programs. Since her admissions decisions will determine where I'll end up in a few months, I read most of the posts in this thread to know where the processes stand and I share your excitement and disappointment. Here is her rundown: CalArts: interviewed UCI: interviewed Yale: rejected UCLA: rejected SAIC (non-visual arts program): accepted in mid February via regular mail Columbia: no response whatsoever yet -- I know interview requests have gone out, but is there still any hope for those who haven't heard anything one way or the other? I will be following the topic closely for updates, biting my nails, wishing you all good luck.
