  1. I'm so sorry. When I read this I seriously felt like I got punched in the gut. Alternate status may not be a flat out refusal, but it certainly feels like one sometimes... I feel for you and I'm sending well wishes your way. You've been an amazing cheerleader and supporter of everybody on this board; this seems unfair. I'm so so sorry.
  2. I definitely swing between denial and anger. One minute I'm certain the email will come at any second, the next I'm angry it didn't... Then I transition into full scale panic mode where I'm like "seriously!? Where is it!? It has to come!! Why isn't it here!?" Last time around I was SO much worse though... This time I at least have some ability to talk myself down and am comparatively functional at work. Ugh...
  3. Damn you Norway! No but really... I'm sorry that happened to you... Could you reapply next year?
  4. Last year I don't think they did...
  5. I hope so!! Maybe the June thing is a "just in case" scenario they put in the emails... Or maybe it's just special for me :-)
  6. I'm pretty sure it differs by country. Dominican Republic full recipients can start anytime between August 2013 and March 31st. Haha and now that I look at this incredibly flexible time frame, it's slowly dawning on me that I'm probably in the "end if June" group...
  7. Yup. End of June... Sheesh...
  8. I just went back and read my email notification from January. It says that some countries may not receive final notification until THE END OF JUNE!! Why was I thinking May 15th? Why why why!? I seriously thought it was going to be any day now... Sad...
  9. This makes me laugh and cry at the same time... Wait a minute... No... NO!! we're ALL getting Fulbrights THIS time and this is our last application season!!
  10. Luxembourg? I don't think they've heard... I could be wrong though...
  11. Yup! Latvia too! Bummer about the holiday... Hopefully you'll hear today... If not - the good news is that we'll only be in limbo until May 15th. It sounds like forever, but it's really only 2 more weeks, which after a year of preparing for this, really isn't too too awful...
  12. Nope! Turkey, Vietnam, Central America/Caribbean, Middle East/North Africa... We're all still waiting! I'm sure there's others I'm missing too...
  13. This link shows the number of awards per country per year. http://us.fulbrightonline.org/statistics Hope it helps!
  14. I know! I was totally just looking at the spreadsheet thinking the same thing! There is an end in sight for everyone - it's just making it through these last two weeks!!

  16. YES!! awesome!! Congrats!
  17. Oh man - I couldn't have that on my phone for that very reason and today was especially frustrating for some reason. I do a good enough job giving myself a heart attack on my own - I don't need help from my phone !! :-)
  18. Fantastic!! Yay!!
  19. Bummer... I'm sorry...
  20. Not so much depressed, but frustrated and agitated... Where I just don't know what to do with myself because I just want to know (well - admittedly I just want to be accepted). I definitely have to talk myself down sometimes.
  21. So Caribbean/CA people: we're rapidly approaching last year's notification date! Who thinks it's going to be next week? I'm going to guess it won't be, given all of the other hold ups in other regions. I fact, I think we might even be later than May 9th... That's just me pontificating with no reasonable information to back this up. Other bets? Maybe they want us all so badly that they're running a donation drive in each individual country to finance our research / ETA tenures... No? Maybe?
  22. Yay!!
  23. Now that's just mean!
  24. Yup. Last year when people contacted the program coordinator (it was Pam Jenkins then) she never really seemed to know. She'd tell us mid April (then mid April would come and go), then she'd tell us the end of April (the end of April would come - still no news), then the beginning of May (nothing)... I honestly don't think the program coordinators know much more than we do. They're depending on information that's subject to change for basically any reason and our region seems particularly vulnerable to it. I dunno...that's just my speculation... For all I know the email could be in my inbox right now while I sit here oblivious.
  25. I know you did! That was awesome! To be honest, I'm kind of at a point where I'm like "they'll let us know when they know..." Half the time I don't event think the regional coordinator is doing anything but guessing based on past notification dates, since it doesn't seem like there's much communication with the foreign commissions. From Ashley's response before, it doesn't seem like she expects us to hear until around the same time as last year (unless something miraculous happens). So, altough an update would be nice, I've kinda accepted the fact that we'll probably just have to sit tight until mid May...
