I GOT IT (scholarship) DYING

Boren just posted on their facebook page: "The Fellowship announcements have been emailed out. We hope to send the emails regarding the Scholarship announcements by the end of the business day tomorrow (May 2)." I feel like I'm going to be sick. One more day?!?!?!? EDIT: Ha, looks like we were all posting at the same time.

I imagine it would take a while, with over 1000 applicants for fellowships and scholarships. It looks like fellowship alternates, YESes, and rejections have gone out judging by the facebook page and the spreadsheet. Hold tight. I'm right there with ya.

OMG OMG OMG. It's happening.

The spreadsheet shows two people have gotten "NO" answers... can somebody confirm that rejection emails are being sent out?

My strategy was to focus on other things and keep myself busy studying for finals. I have been studying for my final exam in Chinese/Japanese history... all day... and after I finish that exam tomorrow, I have my Mandarin final on Tuesday. Guess where I want to go if I get the Boren scholarship? And guess who hasn't been able to stop thinking about it? Me.

I read one post that said it will be next week (beginning of May... no news there) OR that they could have results the last week of April, AKA this week, AKA now I'm freaking out.

That would be awesome... but the budget update email said that "final award decisions will be announced in early May, 2012" so I'm holding out for then! I wish I could know now. :/ kbui, we posted at the same time- I would be tempted to do it, but also really scared! Was this somebody from the national panel? You're not talking about your school representatives, are you? Sometimes I wonder if the school reps know anything before we do.

I thought about that too. Last year there were 5 South Korea Boren scholars. It will be interesting to see the number for this year. As for the waiting.... I've been busy with finishing up this last week of classes and now finals will take over my time, but it's still in the back of my mind always. I swear, if one more relative or friend asks me, I'm going to freak out. I don't know how many times I've said "I won't know until early May" but apparently not enough to stop people from asking me about it. I imagine once May begins I'll start obsessively checking my email. This is agonizing.

So far, but so close... I started working on my Boren application in August of 2011, and now that we're about a month away from knowing the results, I can't believe it. Time flew by.

Ever since my panel interview I've had recurring dreams about Boren! I actually had one dream that I found out I got a scholarship, immediately collapsed onto the floor, curled up in a fetal position, and sobbed uncontrollably. It was bizarre.

Has there ever been a case where a person received a budget email and then didn't get the scholarship at all and was rejected?
