  1. I just declined my offer from Georgetown for Applied Linguistics, Ph.D. I hope whoever's on the waiting list (including funding?) will get the spot~ Post if you're on the waiting list! I wanna see how fast they process this heheh
  2. haha that's right, 99%... But that 1% was really bothering me Anyway, as of today, I am 100% with Columbia. 1) honestly, GT offered me much better funding... 2) Columbia 3) Columbia: my sister lives in manhattan and I'm really close to her so... it'd be nice to have family around the school 4) This one is still hard for me to decide 5) GT Basically, when it comes down to money, money and money, GT is a better choice. Ah whatever, I will just sell an arm and a leg and go to Columbia lol.
  3. Hi everyone. So glad to see that many of you are going to wonderful schools, and more importantly, the school of of your dreams! As for me, I got into Columbia university and Georgetown university for a doctorate degree in applied linguistics ( among others but they are not linguistics). I am 99.9% sure I will be attending Columbia but I would still like to hear comments from other people to push that number to a 100%! ...or 0%? Lol. And if any of you have any advice or comments, plz leave them here
  4. I got accepted to both schools for Applied Linguistics with funding but I cannot decide where to go... I'm hoping to get some feedback from thegradcafe community!
  5. I'm sure this is not THE factor of my rejections/acceptances but here's an interesting story: I'm currently working on my thesis for my MA at Korea University, so technically I'm just a BA I applied to a bunch of places for phd. Most schools had deadlines in early Dec, but some were as late as end of Jan. I got my FIRST paper published about 2 weeks after the deadlines of 5/9 schools-- the other 4, I managed to attach it as my sample work and resume. Guess what? I got rejected by all 5 and got accepted by all 4
  6. Hi everyone, Recently got accepted to a few places for a doctorate (more rejections than acceptances lol): Arizona, Georgetown, Columbia, and U of Washington (not ling). I've narrowed it down to 2 choices: Georgetown vs Columbia for applied linguistics. I am hoping you guys can help me decide by telling me about the programs/schools/faculty members/citylife and more Thanks~
  7. Hi everyone. I heard back from Georgetown (phd) applied Linguistics. I got accepted but haven't decided if I'm gonna accept the offer =\
