  1. for me its Joseph Bombardier... p.s. I'm in Ontario
  2. MA in political science at UofT starting fall 2012... applied to Queens, McMaster, UBC, and UofT - accepted to all with funding 3.77/4.0 cgpa, 3.93/4.0 gpa in 3rd/4th year applied through my school I have won several academic awards, but no publications/presentations... good luck all!!!!!
  3. I got one!!!!....congrats to the rest of you!!!
  4. The SSHRC competition results data indicates that there is frequently a different number of awards from year-to-year: 2008/09 - 1338 awards 2009/10 - 1228 awards 2010/11 - 1500 awards 2011/12 - 1300 awards From this I gather that the number of awards is not constant from year-to-year. Consequently, I can't imagine that they wouldn't know ahead of time the number of awards they had to give out before informing each school of their yearly allocation. Or is this all just wishful rationalization on my part - LOL.
  5. Saw this on the UVic website...It seems to reinforce the notion that almost all masters applicants who are forwarded to the national competition are ultimately given awards... Evaluation process 1) Applications are ranked within each department; 2) Applications are ranked by the Faculty of Graduate Studies adjudication committee; 3) Applications are ranked by the SSHRC jury MA: this is pro forma; the decisions made at UVic almost always stand; PhD: UVic forwards an “A” list of recommended applications. UVic recieves a quota for the MA and PhD SSHRC scholarships each year. Here's the link if you want to see it for yourself: http://web.uvic.ca/humanities/student/grad_sshrc.php
  6. So, I've gotta ask this: To those of you who were successful (I wasn't), would you be willing to post some of your vitals? I'm just trying to discern where/how I came up short. Truth be told, I thought I was in good shape for an OGS, but I found out today I was unsuccessful (I was not even wait-listed). About me: I just finished my BA at UofT in Polisci (I had completed 18.5 credits when I applied in the fall of 2011). I have a 3.77 cgpa (3.90 in 3rd and 4th year). I applied to MA programs in Polisci at UBC, Queens, UofT, and McMaster. I was accepted to all four with funding. I will be attending the MA program at UofT this fall. Congrats to those of you who were successful. But seriously, how did you do it?
