  1. I suppose my tone is pretty bent, and I guess I ought to apologize for that. I am letting the pressure get to me. I have let the pressure get to me. And anonymous internet forum stuff. but what you wrote right here... There is a section in the application where you need to make your status in your program explicitly clear. Another poster pointed it out. Congratulations. I will try to take a chill pill.
  2. The trolls are funny this year! So many trolls. Have you ever met anyone applying for a SSRCH, FQRSC, OGS that had no idea how the application process worked, or what they were applying for? And then get the award, not having any idea what they received? I suppose it could happen. No letters...I suppose they were picked up from SSRCH headquarters this morning. That would make first business day today.
  3. Things unfortunately have not changed. It is a no go for full time students. That's why I would like to know how it was so easy for Raise Cain. I know there are a ton of loop holes. And I am sure that if you had some one to guide you in the process you can get through. It involves renouncing your provincial citoyennité(!?!) (I never knew we had provincial citoyennités until I moved to Quebec) and forcing Quebec to pick you up. But that must take a coordinated effort to jump through that red tape. Screws out of province grad students though.. Good luck in the competition.
  4. Would you mind elaborating on the process for me? In my experience its not as easy as simply applying. The régie has the applications and I have had interviews trying to get one. Even though I have lived in the province full time for two years, I am still considered as a "student and any other person from another province who are in Quebec temporarily". They ask me what are you doing in the province. I say I'm a student. They say you are covered by your province. End of discussion. Would you mind letting me know how you got the application? Is there an office at Concordia that helps students from out of province get the card.
  5. Hi am interested how did you get the Quebec health care card. You must have parents that were born in Quebec, right? Or perhaps you worked a year before entering into your studies? That's really the hardest part. Getting the card. After that the application from what I remember is about the same as the CRSH with the difference that the letters of recommendation are online, maybe the whole application is I can't remember. But you need the card. Which you can't get unless you have successfully jumped through the Quebec citizenship b.s. I was told that it would never happened for me. I'm at a francophone institution.
  6. Yeah, no doubt. I heard that from my super. too. Hard to say. http://twitter.com/#...sshrc%20results He cced it to a professor, a counselor and a student organisation, or so it appears to me. I think he's speaking of the results we're waiting for.
  7. Longtime lurker, Just popping in to say a couple of things 1) a professor from Carleton announced on twitter that his RO (whatever that means.) told him that the results are finalized, but will not be mailed out until next week. Josh Greenburg is his name, I suppose tweetting is his game. 2) To contribute to the publishing..debate (?).. Depending on the field you are in, if you have no publications it is no big deal. In my field the message is clear - no peer reviewed articles in journals (the only ones that matter) before the completion of a thesis - no big deal. No emphasis on publishing until graduation. Completing the degree in 4 years still the number one goal. 3) I agree with the guy who wrote above me on the chances. numbers I've seen on CRSH website tell me 50 / 50.
