  1. Any thoughts on Yale's PhD program in political science? Is it as methodologically diverse as the program's website suggests?
  2. Thanks, Orlien. It's a good sign that students recommend that you apply to Princeton for grad work.
  3. I'm asking about Princeton specifically, because I've heard reviews from a few people that made me nervous about the atmosphere in the department. The reviews are a bit dated, though, so I was just curious about what people here had to say.
  4. Thanks for your reply. When I ask about competition, I wonder if it is a cut-throat competition (e.g. checking all books out of the library that peers might need) or a healthier competition.
  5. These questions are for those in Princeton's Department of Politics, or those who have heard about it: what's the atmosphere like in the Department? Is it collegial or competitive? Are professors interested in their students' work? Are professors accessible? How's the morale? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Did anyone here apply to the John Peters Humphrey Fellowship? If so, have you received a decision on your application? Thanks!
  7. Thanks, misskira. Good luck to you too.
  8. Thanks, DancingHeel, for your response. I have been in touch with both programs. The program to which I have been accepted (program A) understands it might not hear from me until close to the April 15th deadline. I just hate to keep people on the waitlist at program A waiting. The program where I have been waitlisted (program says it should have more information by late tonight. Program B thinks it will be able to make an offer or two off the waitlist, but says that my area of interest likely won't be its first priority. Apparently it's more of a pool of applications, rather than a ranked list. It is starting to make me think I would rather go to program A, because its more interested in my work. A top-20 program is still okay, right?
  9. I have been put on a wait list for a very good PhD program, which might use its wait list (but only very close to the April 15th deadline). Should I wait right until the April 15th deadline before I accept elsewhere, or would that make a bad first impression?
  10. In Canada I only applied to UBC and U of T. Just over a week ago I received an acceptance from UBC. When I emailed U of T, I heard that the committee plans to meet on March 8th to make decisions on PhD applications. Decisions should be sent out soon after that.
  11. My university also required a copy of the notification of the award.
  12. People started receiving decisions by mail today about SSHRC Master's Scholarships. I thought some people on the OGS waitlist might be interested in this information. Good luck!
