  1. Hey guys, I applied to the MSc IR program at LSE and was placed on the reserve list. Was wondering if there is anyone else who is also on the list?
  2. Hey guys, I was wondering if there is anyone who is on the waiting list/reserve list for a Master's program at LSE, and if there is, have you heard back from them? I was also curious if there is anyone on gradcafe who was on a waiting list/reserve list for LSE in the past years and received an offer.
  3. I just think its a compromise between time and money. A PhD in Communication at Columbia would take atleast 2 or maybe 3 (if you don't have a Master's), while an MSc from LSE would take a year. Since you don't have funding for LSE its going to cost you not 25k but atleast twice that if you include living expenses, while on the other hand your PhD is fully funded. And then there is the question of your career aspirations. If you want to continue with your journalism career, a PhD from Columbia J School will in my opinion be looked at quite favorably. An MSc in History of IR from LSE won't hurt but I'm not sure how it'll help in furthering your career in journalism plus it'll cost you 50k, but then maybe you're interested in international reporting or something like that, so you could make that work too. It's like I said a compromise between time and money. Good luck with your decision, I hope I was able to help out.
  4. Hi there, I thought I'd reply to your post since I'm familiar with KCL, having studied in London for a while. From what I know KCL is best known for its War Studies/ Conflict Studies program and overall its one of the best colleges in the UK, but outside of the UK I'm not so sure about its name recognition. I don't know how reputed the English program is though, I'd just say that studying English in the land of Shakespeare shouldn't be so bad, besides London is a great city to be in if you don't mind the bad weather
  5. Hey guys, I was put on the reserve list for the Master's program in IR at LSE. They tell me that I should find out in August. I have a backup school here in the US, which I was accepted to last year but deferred to attend this year. So my question is should I just goto the school here in the US and forget about LSE, because school starts around late-August early September here and if I keep waiting for LSE results and don't get an offer I will miss the boat altogether. The other thing is that I wasn't offered a scholarship at the US school, so I'll have to take out a humongous amount of loan money to go there, which I will have to do to goto LSE as well, the difference being that the LSE Masters is a year long while the US masters is going to be two years and not from a very prestigious school. Would appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks
