Hello Iber, I received my B.A from CSUN in Sociology. Academically, my overall GPA was at 2.6. My last 60 units was at 2.9. I think what helped me get accepted was the experience I had during and after college. During my senior year at CSUN I worked as an employment specialist/case manager assisting individuals with various obstacles obtain employment. I currently now work for a family mental health agency as an assistant program coordinator. I've had experience working with seniors, children, victims of DV, ex-felons, recovering substance abuse addicts, homeless population, undocumented individuals, mentally impaired and so on. I also supplemented my application with two professional references and 1 professor. Hope this information helps! Best of luck!

Hi Everyone, For those who applied to CSULA - I received an acceptance letter on 4/12/14 for the 3 yr CYWF Program. I submitted my application on 1/8/14. Thought I would be receiving an answer in May or by late April, so the notification came as a surprise!

Thank you. Yeah I emailed her asking if there may have been an error as I applied for the 3-year program. Yes, hopefully they will follow up with you soon. It seems they are moving pretty quick with the applications. I interviewed on 3/17 and received the emailed response last night! Best of luck!

Hi Everyone, Received an acceptance email from csun - 2 yr program. Hoping the letter was a mistake since I had preference in the 3 year program. Still haven't received anything from csula...

So I received an email last night from CSUN inviting me to interview with them next week! Really excited yet nervous at the same time Still have not heard from CSULA..

Hi Everyone, Couldn't help myself but I contacted CSUN today and was told over the phone that applications are still under review and that interviews are to be scheduled soon. Don't lose hope!

Hi Everyone, Like most, I am also at that nervous point and hate the waiting game. Last year I made the mistake of submitting my MSW app to only CSULA and was rejected. This time around, I submitted my app to CSUN and CSULA. I will also be mailing my app to CSUDH (I know it's very last minute, but it was a last minute decision). I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get in CSULA (top choice)!

I am also submitting my application for CSULA tomorrow! Yikes, I know I should have submitted this earlier! I decided to also go for Long Beach. The waiting begins. I am not certain about being admitted. My gpa is a 2.92, not so great. But I have a lot of work experience in case management and volunteer experience with the youth. I am hoping that stands out in my application. Good luck everyone!

Hello Everyone, I find myself in that situation. Not sure where to apply to. My wish list is: 1. UCLA 2. USC (online program) 3. Boston Univ. (online program) 4. FSU (online program) 5. CSUN The only thing, my GPA is low. Cumulative, I have a 2.7, but based on my upper division courses I have a 3.0. My community college courses are the reason I don't have a high GPA ( I honestly didn't take school seriously back then). I do however, have about 5 years of paid work experience working with the youth and adults within many non profits providing educational tutoring and case management. At the moment, I work for an organization and have a caseload of 120 clients and work with various clients from diverse barriers such as substance abuse, homelessness, domestic violence, undocumented individuals, clients with mental health issues. I feel my strong point is my work experience and the fact that I have been working since the age of 15 and gone to school at the same time. I also can gather about 5 references (2 professors and 3 work related) What do you think? Do I really have a shot with my top 3 choices?
