  1. Hello, I'm pursuing an MTS at BU, and I'm wondering if there are any students at BTI schools looking for housing. I have a really nice apartment with another theology student. The apartment is convenient for BC, BU, and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology students. We need a third roommate beginning in September. If you or anyone you know is interested, or if you have advice on places to look (besides craigslist) for roommates in the area, please let me know.
  2. I'm in agreement with the above recommendations for both Boston College and Boston University. At Boston College, you'll find philosophy professors who do work in philosophy of religion (e.g., Mckaughan) and apologetics (e.g., Kreeft). In addition, BC offers courses that are team taught by philosophy and theology professors, which might be ideal for someone with your interests. BU also has professors who do work in philosophical theology (e.g., Neville), philosophy of religion (e.g., Speight), and science and religion (e.g., Wildman). You also might check out the BU Institute for Philosophy and Religion: bu.edu/ipr.
  3. Hello, I've been following many of the discussions about MTS programs, but there has not been much recent discussion of BU. YDS (MAR comp) and BC have offered me fairly decent scholarships, but my best offer is currently from BU. Additionally, my interests are in philosophy of religion and ethics, and I would be completing a concentration in philosophy, ethics, and theology at BU. I'm curious to hear others' thoughts about that program, especially in comparison to YDS and BC.
  4. Hello, I've been following this thread for a while, but this is my first post. I'm feeling pretty mixed about my options. None of my scholarship offers are all that impressive, and I already have a fair amount of student loan debt. Are people going to ask for more money? If so, who is the best person to contact about it?
  5. Thanks for the responses. I had not given much consideration to UVA mainly due to their reputation for being extremely competitive.
  6. Thank you for the responses. The feedback is helpful, and the flexibility at BU and BC is certainly appealing. BU's website suggests tuition schlarships for MTS students would cover a little over 50% of their tuition, though it may be possible to receive additional merit-based scholarships.
  7. Hello, I've been searching for master's programs that allow students to study both theology and philosophy of religion/philosophical theology. My academic background is in psychology, and I already have graduate degrees in clinical psychology. At this juncture, I'm considering returning to graduate school primarily due to personal interest in philosophy and theology, though I'm not opposed to the possibility of continuing for a Ph.D. after a master's program. I've researched a few programs, such as Talbot, Claremont, Denver Seminary, YDS, and HDS, and YDS and HDS appear to be the most desirable due to the possibility of funding. Boston Univ, Boston College, and Duke Divinity School also seem to be worthy of consideration, but it's not clear to me how much opportunity there would be for their M.T.S. students to take philosophy classes. Any advice or feedback you could provide about these or other programs would be greatly appreciated! -Mike
