If only admissions committees were this easily persuaded.

If I get an offer tomorrow, I will buy a drink for everyone here. If you don't drink, I'll buy you a grape juice. If you hate grate juice, you're out of luck. Offer only valid for the next 24 hours. Conditions may apply. See store for details.

I agree.

I disagree.

Pittsburgh?

Congrats x2! Would you mind sharing your stats and perhaps also your AOI?

Then what are the ramifications of a slow Monday through Sunday?

Peter Ludlow has taken over TGC Acceptance Thread.

There is an NYU PhD offer posted, as of a few hours ago. Is it legit? Seems both early (very early for NYU) and an odd time, but if it's legit then congrats to that lucky philosopher.

Possible snippet of 300-come-grad school applications dialogue occurring this same time tomorrow on this thread: Applicant #1: "Tons of offers going out today. This is crazy!" Applicant #2: "Madness, you say?" Applicant #1: "Actually, I said 'crazy', not 'madness'." Applicant #2: "This is not madness. This. Is. Mondaaayyyyyyy!!!" Applicant #2 then runs out of the room in order to kick the next person (s)he finds into a conveniently placed hole/well. And...scene.

Seems likely that Pitt will give out first round offers Monday the 10th. I'm hoping against hope -- can't helPitt. (Sorry. That was awful.)

This is the most logically sound reasoning process I have ever come across

Silly_Socrates: The norm is 5-7 initial offers, most if not all of which are turned down. Then they go to the top of the wait list, then the middle of the wait list, and so on. ~25 offers but probably only 5-6 people in the incoming class.

Vineyard: Yeah that's right.

Congrats to everyone already accepted somewhere (or at more than one place). Who else thinks that Pittsburgh and U of Arizona might give out first round offers this Friday? I'm quite excited.
-
shelbyelisha: I'd recommend getting in touch with the department (and doing so through the number they gave you seems to make sense) to find out what is meant by that section of your acceptance letter. Seems like a normal question, since 'advisement' is so vague and/or ambiguous. Also: Congrats on the acceptance!

First UNC Chapel Hill acceptance has been posted.

Anyone else going to the Boulder recruitment weekend?

Phil are you talking about the Colorado Boulder recruitment weekend? If so, see you there!

What happened to Princeton and Michigan Ann Arbor?
-
Stop being considerate and trying to rationally examine other perspectives. Be closed minded damnit. Also: Goodbye Cornell and Texas. You're missing out. Had your chance to send me an offer and ya both blew it.
-
True! Cue massive rejection list from places like Princeton and Michigan Ann Arbor. If I get into Princeton, I will buy a beer for every depressed applicant on this forum.

Sounds like a great list of schools. What areas do you work in? (Apologies if you've already explained fifty times what areas you work)
