Elephas Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 I've been looking at questions and preparing for a skype interview (of course I'd appreciate any tips or questions to prepare for also), but one thing I've missed is the etiquette piece. After a Skype interview do you send an email saying thank you? All of the messages I've received have been a "lets chat on skype" but I'm assuming that this is still an interview of sorts. I'm not entirely sure how formal / casual to be. I do plan on dressing up maybe not a suit but a nice cardigan and blouse since it's over video call.
rising_star Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Definitely send an email to say thank you. You don't want to be rude! I wouldn't wear a suit for a Skype interview but I'd definitely make sure I had on a nice/presentable top.
Elephas Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 @rising_star Thank you! Do you think an hour is an appropriate amount of time to wait (as to not seem so eager)or is right after better?
rising_star Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 I would wait until the end of that day or early the next day, in case you think of anything you could've answered better, would like to expand on, or have additional questions about. TakeruK 1
TakeruK Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 I usually write my thank you emails right after the interviews, especially for panel interviews since when it's just a bunch of voices on the phone, it's easy to mix up who said what unless I note it down right away. But then I save it as a draft and don't send it until the end of the day or first thing the next morning, as rising_star suggests.
