scfree14 Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Hi all, I am currently in the process of researching and narrowing my list of programs/POIs for Sociology PhD programs for fall 2019. I got a response from one POI after an initial email describing my interest in his work, who said, "Feel free to send any materials along as you prepare to apply." This question may be naive, but what exactly would I send? How does that process work? Any information/clarification would be much appreciated!
pinoysoc Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Hey! I would consider sending your SOP or even projects you're currently working on. Let me know if you need help!
exidwhere Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 I got a similar response from one of my POI and was a bit overwhelmed initially. I asked few of my current professors and, basically, your POI is willing to look over your SOP/SOI. They can give you tips on improving it (aka. tailor it to the department) so that you have a higher chance of getting in. Your POI may also be referring to your CV/resume if the program is asking for it. infovore 1
