Regswilson Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Hey everyone! Has anyone heard ANYTHING from UNR for the Biology master's program? I check this website daily, and the only acceptances as of now are still PhD. The PI I spoke to mentioned that in the past, their graduate students would visit the campus during their Spring Break. Mine is in 2 weeks, and I haven't heard a single thing regarding this program. UNR is the only school I applied to, but I'm not sure that matters in this forum! But seriously, has anyone who has applied for the Biology Masters heard back?
prospective_ecology Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 They review MS/MA applications during the entire month of February. Realistically, this week would be the first week I would expect to hear from them. I honestly don't expect to hear anything until mid-March. While its probably too late to do anything about it now, applying to only one school is definitely a risky strategy and hope that you get in.
potentiallylovely Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Not sure how relevant this will be but I applied to the EECB PhD program and just heard back from my POI today. She said their admissions process takes longer than most other schools and that she only recently saw my application. I wasn't even accepted; I just got an informal Skype interview with her. If you haven't heard anything yet, I wouldn't worry too much. It seems like they really take their time.

I wasn't planning on going to grad school just yet (I originally planned on doing assistant field jobs for a year before pursuing higher education, and have a few with AmeriCorps lined up already as backups) but I fell in love with this one professor and their research and decided to go for it. Hence why I don't really mind the whole one-school thing. I submitted my application in December, so the application purgatory period is just starting to get to me!!! I just am getting nervous bc the PI I like/Skyped with said that in the past, their grad students would visit during their Spring Break. Mine is next week, so a part of me just feels anxious haha
prospective_ecology Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Got a decision today. Admitted no funding, so it'll be a no for me
