hopefulslp1 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 So like everyone else on this forum the wait time is grueling and giving me such anxiety...But I interviewed for a program on 12/12 (almost 3 months ago) and still have not heard from them. My portal status hasn't changed and I'm kind of going off the notion that no news is good news but the admissions counselor told us that we would hear back within a few weeks and it's clearly been more than a few weeks. Do you think it's okay to email the admissions counselor? This is my top school but I'm also terrified to reach out to admissions in fear that it'll bring me bad luck. Should I maybe wait until mid-March when decisions normally start to come out? Also, if anyone has emailed an admissions counselor and can give me some advice or what they said I would greatly appreciate it! I can't quite figure out how to word what I want to say. Thank you!!
theominousfuture Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Maybe it would be helpful to find out if they sent out decisions yet? Perhaps you can call (or have a friend call) and see if they’ve sent out letters. If they have and you haven’t gotten anything, then I would go forward with emailing the admissions counselor. If they haven’t sent anything out, maybe find out when they plan on sending things out and wait until then.

Have you seen people posting results on the admissions page? I don't think there's anything wrong with emailing the school and inquiring about when they will make admission decisions. I've heard of several other people on these pages doing that.
ViveLaRevolution Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Some schools just wait to see if their current offers get accepted before rejecting/accepting any additional applicants. It's essentially a wait-list without actually letting you know that you're wait-listed. That might be your situation if you have seen a few people posting results. However, not all programs have people who are active on this site. Mine certainly didn't.
hopefulslp1 Posted March 1, 2018 Author Posted March 1, 2018 The only reason I asked was because I've seen a decent amount of people who have been accepted and because I interviewed so early and they told us a few weeks. I might try and stick it out until the first week of March before I send the email

I personally think you should email and ask, the school has no reason to not be transparent!
SLPLiz Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 I've emailed a school asking and I don' think anything is wrong with that. I just introduced myself and said something like I know you get a lot of applicants, but I was wondering when I might be able to expect a decision.
Molly123 Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Agree with everyone here! December was a long time ago! As long as it's a polite email or call I don't think there is any issue, that's what admissions is there for. Go for it!
