which school to choose ? EE/ECE PHD

I have these four options currently. All full-funded(RA+Fellowship).

If you don't mention specific field nor area, I would rank them as follows in terms of school's reputation in ECE.

UIUC>Umich>=Princeton>UCSD

But it really depends on which field you are talking about.

Umich may be strong in EM, princeton will be strong in theoretical research, UCSD is strong in circuits,  UIUC is strong in SP or communications. and so on
(I may be biased)

 

For more specific advice, you should provide more situation of yours, it seems.

FYI, I voted based solely on weather because I know nothing about your field.

UIUC is the most reputable, but also the most miserable. Their PhD program is notoriously rigorous and the city is extremely boring.
