Good news: here in Ottawa, I got my letter from NSERC today! It is for a CGS-D, which I have trade for a PGS because I am headed to the US; this means more money for somebody else though! I hope it's not a bad sign to have one

I figured it'd be harder to argue with someone saying "Hey, I just covered my salary for the next two years, I'll see you in a week", than "I'm taking a week of vacation?"

UoGstudent Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I still do not have a PIN but I got confirmation from our graduate secretary (since they have the spreadsheets already) that I got the CGSD3. No mail yet as of today.

slalonde Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 No letters yet here at Univ. of Alberta (Edmonton), but yesterday the faculty of grad studies released the results to the individual departments. Our department then almost immediately sent out a mass email congratulating the new awardees. Importantly, they released both postgraduate and postdoctoral results, even though postdocs don't apply through any particular university - seems to me like each University receives a master awards list with all PGS/CGS/PDF results. In short, your University may have the PDF results as well - mine did. Got my PDF, phew!

mattL Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Hey everyone, I'm in Ottawa and I got my rejection letter for NSERC in the mail today. It's sad since it's the 3rd year in a row I've applied and been rejected, twice for Masters, and once for PhD now. Maybe better news next month for OGS? My research area is reconstructing past climates to narrow the uncertainty of future climate forecasts. Check out this article and note that NSERC is mentioned. Matt

queens Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Yesterday heard from Queen's grad school that I have been awarded a PDF. Today, they told me that they have made a mistake because NSERC has changed the format of reporting the results to them, and thus I have not got PDF. Isn't it ridiculous? Nothing in mail yet.
Sydryx Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 That's terrible Queens! I'm almost glad my graduate secretary didn't tell me anything, just in case a mix up like that happened. Oh well, back to whistling the Beatle's version of "Mr. Postman" as I wait for tomorrow's delivery.
