I am currently doing one of my practicum placements and the site requires students to do a project on the topic of their choice. You can research a topic to present or develop a tool for them to use at the center. I have chosen to develop a tool. I will be creating a type of adaptation for the Goldman-Fristoe 2 that allows clinicians to better assess children who speak Spanish or African American English. Since these languages may be responsible for some English errors a child has, my project will show what substitutions would be appropriate for Spanish or African American English speakers so that certain "errors" are not counted against them. Does anybody have any ideas on how to really enhance this project rather than just basically listing all of the sounds that are appropriate? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

You could base the targets off their dialect so to see if their production is considered accurate in AAE. thespeechblog.com 1
thespeechblog.com Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Definitely agree with @chaitealatte above Maybe consider a way to overlay your notes onto the actual GFTA protocol as "reminders" so that clinicians don't have to look between 2 or 3 papers when doing an eval.
Oxbow Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 (edited) There is also a Goldman-fristoe Spanish edition. If a child’s first language is Spanish, then he/she should be tested using that edition..... However I agree with the post above saying something about reminders. There could be scenarios where when testing a child in English, the clinician is unaware of some Spanish influence (i.e. some parents saying that the child’s first language is English when it is actually Spanish) Edited July 22, 2018 by Tjl2016
