Hi everyone!

I am applying this fall and looking at the pre-reqs for the programs through CSDCAS, there are some classes specific to one program that are not included in the others that I did not take in undergrad because my program didn't require them/our advisor only gave us basic pre-req classes to take. Because I don't want to take them just to apply to one school and have it be for nothing, does anyone know if I don't take them right away, will it affect my chances of being considered? In other words, could I get accepted then take them if I decide to go there? Should I just take them anyways? Also some programs have requirements that you had to get a B in the course, but I got a B-, do I have to retake those?

The classes I haven't taken that I have seen listed are neuroanatomy, ASL, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Also if anyone has taken classes online for these that are good, let me know!

If this helps answer your question two programs I interviewed with I had not taken Neuroscience as this was a requirement for their programs. During the interview process I was told that I could complete this course in the beginning of my program to fulfill this requirement. So this personally did not hurt my chances as I was accepted into both these programs mentioned. You would have to check the program though. Some programs might not let you complete undergraduate courses with their grad classes. Hope that helps!

Neuroscience/neuroanatomy is a very common prereq. This would be definitely be worth taking if you are planning on applying to a bunch of schools. It may be much easier to get the prereq out of the way before beginning a program--trust me when I say the workload in grad school is not light!

None of my programs required ASL or ASD (ASD would typically be a grad-level course). If you're really interested in the school that requires them then maybe take them early, but it doesn't seem worth it if you end up going to another program that doesn't need them.

Thanks for the advice! I have considered both of these options and the community college near me has registration for the spring semester soon so I am weighing the options. All of the classes I have mentioned are only needed by one program (the ASL and ASD classes are needed by one school and the neuroanatomy for another if that makes sense).
