yash13177 Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Hello! I have a very simple, technical question. Many schools ask you to list citations for any publications resulting in your research. My peers and I have gotten into a debate over what this means. Do they only want papers? Or do big conference (national or international) posters count as well (those technically have a citation)?
loffire Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 I asked this question and it went unanswered. Hoping someone responds here so I know too hahaha
yash13177 Posted November 17, 2018 Author Posted November 17, 2018 @loffire Whoops sorry to double ask! I'm going to email some schools' admissions and see what they say. I will update! But would appreciate others to provide their opinions/answers!
orchidnora Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 I assumed that publications meant papers, books, etc. Typically, nobody would consider a poster or presentation slides to be publications, especially since (presumably) there was no peer review. In each of my my applications, there was a separate area to list presentations, so you could list them in an area like that. Also list them on your CV/resume. You could also attach PDFs of your posters as supplemental documents yash13177 1
BabyScientist Posted November 19, 2018 Posted November 19, 2018 Publications only unless they ask for abstracts/presentations. Cite presentations on your CV. yash13177 1
yash13177 Posted November 21, 2018 Author Posted November 21, 2018 Thank you both for your responses!! I sent out an email to some programs but they haven't responded. But, I think I am siding with you two on this~ Thanks!
